SAM 433ci LSX breaks 1000HP N/A
SAM’s 99 Camaro makes 1000 HP Naturally Aspirated
The School of Automotive Machinists is getting its ’99 Hugger Orange SS ready for the LSX Shootout in Memphis. We are currently tuning the new LSX combination on the engine dyno. Our 433ci LSX broke the 1000 hp mark naturally aspirated. We started with a GM Performance Parts LSX block with a 4.155” bore. Then we added a 4.00” Sonny Bryant crank along with GRP aluminum connecting rods. Next, Wiseco pistons gave the engine a 15.5:1 compression ratio. Total Seal rings help seal everything up; while a set of Mahle-Clevite H Bearings and Royal Purple XRP Racing Oil handle the load when the small block screams to 9600RPM. A Beck sheet metal intake manifold feeds the C5R heads that were ported by students and instructors at SAM. A Comp Cams solid roller camshaft, along with a Jesel valvetrain, keeps the Del West Titanium valves under control.

Note: For the LSX shootout we will be switching to a single throttle body to comply with the rules of the All Motor Class
