Default Early dyno results : 01 SS, Homebuilt MPT76 Turbo, Junkyard 6.0 ---->

Pretty freekin excited!!

Tuner called me with some info on some early dyno results.

1st Pull, 14 deg timing, 11.6AFR, 5psi, 4k Max Pull
415rwhp @ 4000rpm
rwtq unkown

2nd Pull, 14 Deg Timing, 11.6AFR, 5psi (boost creep to about 7psi by 6krpm), 6k Max Pull
520rwhp
490rwtq

He will be doing some more tuning tomarrow, adding some timing and boost and hopefully hit 600rwhp!!!!

I still have my 4.10 gears installed along with the 325/50 drag radials so I don't know how that effects a turbo car.

Question for the timing guys, I was told that even 2-3 deg additional timing can yield alone 40-60rwhp?

BTW, for all info on my build, click link in my sig.

Nice. Gonna be a fun car. What rear end do you have and what gears you getting next?

Boosted motors are completely different from nitrous motors. They run best right on the edge of detonation. A degree of timing can pick up 20-50 hp in most cases. With around 12lbs of boost 20-21 degrees should work

Nice. I will be pretty happy with 600 at the wheels on a safe tune. Hoping my fuel system will support it.

I could remove the turbo and still give you a kickin.

thats impressive, it looks like you used the truck manifolds backwards? I've heard that you can do that and have really been thinking about doing a setup like this.

Thanks! I forgot to post the final results.

14 Deg Timing, 9psi boost

545rwhp
542rwtq (500rwtq @ 4k)

Pulls soooooo freekin hard!! Also, this is with my 4.10 gears which is costing me some hp.

In a few weeks I should have some 13-15psi dyno runs. Hoping for 750ish.

Here's the chart!

Congrats, timing is big, but remember that a lot of the successful cars run a few more pounds of boost with less timing opposed to the other way around. You may want to take this thing for a spin before you get carried a way on the dyno. I figure you just turn the boost up 1 lb a month and it will still feel fast in 2 years

Nice built, congrats.

Just looking at the graph I noticed that the Hp, just levelled off in mid 5500 rpm range and is hanging there afterwards.
This is an unlikely aspect of a single turbo setup and is partly attributed to the cam specs.
Turbo Hp curve should just keep pulling upward more, peaking almost when you let off.

You might want to look at slightly different specs with a bit more overlap to even squeeze more out of that combo.

Props on nicely done install.

12lbs and 21 degrees !!! what gas do you figure that on..... i would rather run more boost and less timing

The timing ran is gonna depend alot on boost vs CR vs fuel

9psi with 8.5:1 is gonna run more timing than 9psi with 9.5:1 using the same fuel.

There is no generic this much boost should only have this much timing.

Kinda, boost crept to aout 7-8psi on the preliminary pulls. Final tuned results are 540/545 on 9psi. Of coarse I have turned it up as much as 15psi on the street which feels incredible. Maybe 750rwhp on 15psi or so.
