Default 5th Gen/Cam-only/1x3/4"/Magnapacks

Here is another set of results that NorthShore Auto Clinic was also able to coax out of one of their customers 5th gen Camaros.

The customer wanted to retain as much drivability as possible while achieving the highest gains possible.

This car rolled in with a K&N 63 series intake, 1x3/4" long tube headers, high flow cats, X-pipe and Magnaflow "Magnapacks".

These modifications are accompanied by a custom cam package from Tick Performance. Cam specs are 227/238 .614"/.585" 115lsa. The cam is paired with BTR Platinum springs and Comp Cams hardened chromoly push rods.

SAE corrected:

BTW it looks like these runs were recorded on our dyno, but they were not. I had my customer send the Win Pep files to me via email so I could upload them in our customer database to compare to other camshaft installs we've performed here at our shop.

Those numbers sound totally realistic for sure. We had one dyno 465 rwhp at our local shop, and they are known for having an honest Dynojet dyno. It was a 5th gen with full exhaust, air intake, cam, and manual trans. Nice job

Sounds about right to me.

There is no other motor IMO that makes easier power in stock form than the LS3. Aside from a LS7.

Those are great numbers, Martin! That's a long, broad torque curve that has to be a ton of fun on the street.

Customer is very happy with it as well. 400rwtq for 2500rpm+ is a great motivator for a heavy car. Not to mention cresting 400rwtq@3300rpm as well.

"Drives like stock" and "Pulls forever" were the main words used to describe this grind. This car will probably surprise a lot of folks with it's mild lope at idle when they line up beside it.

Thanks!

This shop is doing another LS3 cam install this week. Might have more before and after results this weekend.

Got a 4400lb. truck with Mast Black Label Med. bore heads on nitrous that will be running a variation of this cam soon. I expect it to perform well.

Doing a lot of things with LS3 stuff lately. Honestly, if you have a 4.030" bore motor then I feel there is no reason a LS3 head shouldn't be considered if your cam guy is up to speed with these cylinder heads.
