If your cam is on a at least 112 lsa, you could use it and swap to ls3 heads. If you wanna discuss, just pm me...Rob

I just found this thread so I'm "only" bumping a year old thread. Not as bad as the last guy who bumped it from 4 years ago! Anywa...I'm building a 6.0 (LQ9) but I'm going to be using this cam from EPS to go with an LS6 intake, stock 317 heads. Exhaust is to be determined...either factory LS3 logs or some BRP mid-length headers...1 3/4 primaries. May run dual or single 3". Haven't gotten that far in the process yet. Goal is 400whp, 400tq. Not sure if I can get there with those stock heads though. Going to be in front of an auto. 3.73 gears in my 84 T/A.

400HP to the wheels? Yeah, you can do that with the stock heads.
400TQ to the wheels? Yep.....you can make that, too,

BRP mid-length headers? I have mid-length on my Impala and they're holding me back to the tune of about 30 to 40 HP. I'll be switching to some 1 7/8" long-tubes and would recommend you go that route as well.

That's great news to hear! Unfortunately with an auto trans in a third gen, it's next to impossible to get dual exhaust past the transmission.

What's the biggest single exhaust available?

Maybe go to a muffler shop and have them fab you a 3" or 3.5" single exhaust?

I'm looking at a couple of options. Knowing I can't easily go past the auto trans is one reason I dropped $500 for the Mast ls swap oil pan. It's only 1/2 inch deeper than the factory Fbody pan in the sump but it's also 3" shorter in the sump (8 inches vs 11 inches) from front to back. I'm curious to see if it will give me enough room in front of the pan to run a factory style 2.5" y-pipe around the front.

If it does, I will be able to run my current 3" catback with LS3 style of 01-02 Factory iron manifolds.

If it does not, I will probably look locally to see if I can have a cross member made with the "bat wings" so I can run dual exhaust.

I do have to say, I would love to have one of those SS Impala's that you have...especially the 96. Both are awesome cars though.

Thanks!

BTW.....the '96 will have a 24x conversion by the end of the week. I had been revving it to 6600 RPMs. With the 24x and the GEN-4 ECU, I should be able to rev clean to 7300 (or so) RPMs.....AND gain 10 to 15 HP/TQ through the entire power curve.

Can't wait to get her back!
