Default Finally got the LT1 on a good dyno

Ive had the car on a few other dynos but never was it running right/was the dyno set up properly. This was at New England Dyno in douglas mass. Nice guys and he said his dyno is usually on the low side. Dynojet 248.

All numbers are corrected.

First run - exhaust closed, converter unlocked, 400/361
Second run - exhaust open, converter unlocked, 414/369

The graph on run two was really bumpy, i think the car has too much timing. We let it cool down for a while.

Third run - exhaust open, converter locked, 446/426

Still a little bumpy but happy with the number. Definitely proves all the naysayers about Golen engines wrong. Car has had nothing but a complete beating for 12,000 miles and is going strong.

Bottom line is i dont care about dyno numbers im just glad the car has a good non slipping trans and isnt hurt or anything. Hoping to run mid 11's @ 119-120 MPH in the spring.

Im an LT1 guy myself, good numbers epescially through an auto. I am also amazed how much power they make when the converter is locked up

Yeah the loss was ridiculous, even on the dyno when i did the pull locked the car felt way more powerful. Unlocked the thing just flashed to over 5000. Even with 3.23's and 26 inch tires @ 6200 RPM im only doing 130-132 mph lol.

Good numbers guy. I would say your goal of mid 11s and 120 trap are for sure doable. Your ready to beat up on some LS cars haha.

Your lucky with that Golen motor. Just pulled apart a LT1 they built last spring. 5 broken valve springs and 1 stretched to hell timing chain(wrong chain).

NED reads about 10-15hp higher than mine on a 420rwhp car for reference.

car made great numbers rob but like u said acutal performance is what matters.......119 with a transmission falling out of the car is nothing to snicker at at 3700lbs lol.......i cant wait to see what it does next year, as for the valvetrain on that car the cam is relatively mild and i ran those springs on the trick flow head on my agressive cam in my 355 i dont see any immediate concern, should check the spring pressures however just due to their age and mileage......unless we step up to big boy heads

We will see V now im considering a cheap SC setup with like 6 pounds on race gas LOL. Im an idiot. Those springs might need to be changed i spin this thing to 7000 all the time.

Nice #'s. We still build LT1's so I give 'em love when I can.

I've always had a little saying about LT1's - "A kid with a wrench and how-to internet site can work on an LS1. It requires a real mechanic to work on an LT1".....

Thats a good saying Damian. I dont lay a finger on this thing! Either my mechanics or Mike "quik95lt1" works on this car. I keep considering bumping the cam up or getting some trick head work but i dont think its worth it, especially with a stock 10 bolt and lots of torque lol.

Nice numbers, pretty stout power going through an auto. I still like seeing a nice LT1 car make good power.
