Compound boosted

Follow along as we put our compound boost LS motor on an engine dyno for initial testing. We're happy with the results as the numbers speak volumes, but we feel there's more left on the table. Stay tuned as we get you the final numbers.

Gotta see the results! What motor is this? What size turbos?

Tainted 01-11-2013 09:14 PM

Ridiculous

Snake_Skinner 01-11-2013 10:28 PM

:eek2:

That looks more like a turbo feeding a roots blower, as opposed to sequential turbos.

Tainted 01-11-2013 11:37 PM

I thought compound was exactly that, turbo and supercharged. Otherwise wouldnt one smaller and larger turbo just be sequential?

Atomic 01-12-2013 01:01 AM

Compound just means more than one....so compound turbos in parallel is what everyone calls "twins" and compound turbos in series would be like what the newer f250s have, possibly called sequential turbos. The terms get a bit fuzzy, but the turbo feeding a blower has been done before, albeit with limited results. Kbracing and smokeshow on performancetrucks both had compound (turbo feed blower) setups at one point, but both came to the conclusion everything works out better with just the single turbo....or they just got lazy and didnt want to spend the hours of tweaking it would take to get a setup like that to really shine.

This one looks like a beast though!

Crazy setup...crazy power!

s346k 01-12-2013 05:30 PM

avg power damn. good luck sticking that kind of tq.

How about more info on the engine.

therabidweasel 01-13-2013 08:34 PM

Am I the only one that thinks this is not threadworthy? How about some actual information?

Dont get me wrong, its a sick setup...I guess, what is it again? Guess I have to call to find out...which is really weak. Why am I calling? Is it for sale? Seriously, what the hell is the point of this thread?

Im sure they want to try and sell you a few things, and you know what they say for price. If you gotta ask, you probably cant afford it. Supercharger system, easy 6k, turbo another easy 6k all the piping and intercooler wastegate blah blah blah thats a few grand and im sure that engine is well over 10k

Compound boost is not new but don't see it much in the ls world. The roots gives all the low end and throttle response while the turbo kicks it up a good amount more. We did this to a 03 cobra back in 05. Twin turbos with the stock blower made 1k rwhp. Pulled the roots and it made more. The roots just gave better throttle response.

People have been doing this with Cummins 12v's for awhile. While a extremely cool setup, it does work but with some mixed results. One of the things Ive been hearing about is supposedly the rotors inside the blower will start to flex and distort with a good bit of boost being thrown into it during compounding.

This pictures shows our kit installed with a TVS2300. We offer it as a compound boost set up as well. These pictures show the kit better with the engine on the stand
