Default 5.3 MS3 prc2.5 dyno results

Have a fresh stock bottom end lm7 ms3 cam. Prc2.5 5.3 heads, kooks 1 7/8 long tubes. Bbk ssi intake. Th400 with 3.55 rear gear.

Car made 325whp@6300 rpm 295tq

Does this seem low? Should i still be making power at higher rpm?

Id post the graph, but have trouble posting pics here.

I would expect peak HP at 6500+

Does sound low depending on dyno type and if you ended the run at 6300.

The tuner stopped the pull at 6300. Power never dropped off, but it looked to have started to flatten out.

I've seen 224 cams and stock heads trucks make 300-310 on a dynojet.

Either really stingy dyno or there might be some kind of issue. Hard to say without knowing how the particular dyno reads.

Probably low timing and not taking the car high enough in the RPM's, with a cam that large in a 5.3 your gonna be revving to 7k without a problem. Way too much cam unless you have an intended use for it, like racing.

It is pretty much a dedicated drag car that gets a good amount of spray. Tuner said i was at 27 degrees for timing

th400 is killing some power and you are not spinning the cam high enough. the MS3 needs spun to 7k in a 346... a 327 would shift the power curve even further to the right.

Thats what i thought. Turns out i have a bad map sensor code p0106. Not sure if that is affecting power output.

You need to rev at least 1k rpms higher, maybe more, and sort out that issue and retune. Bad MAP sensor will hurt you. That engine will not make a ton of torque but should wail like a banshee. That TH400 is going to hurt you hitting a dyno number too. What kind of car and rear end?

Ah, beefy rear and beefy trans are for track runners, not dyno queens. You're gonna have 20% driveline loss, maybe a tad more. Combine that with your tuning headaches and screaming powerband, I think that solves it. Get your tune right, run it a bit past 7k, do the math on the losses, and I think you'll be in the ballpark you're expecting. Regardless, and you know this, the ET and trap speed are your story here.

Your right. I am not concerned with dyno numbers as much as track stats. Put in a new map sensor yesterday and its like a whole new car. Feeling optimistic about upcoming track days again 😎
