Default Cam only LS1, 404 hp 384 torque!

Just got my 02 Camaro dyno tuned at Competition Auto in Spring Lake. Stock LS1 with stock 241 heads. The only thing changed on the engine was a Howards ASA cam, LS3 valve springs, longtube race headers (1 3/4" primaries with 3" collectors and no A.I.R.), no cats with Flo-Pro 3" single chamber mufflers, no PCV. Has stock LS6 intake, stock injectors, didn't do anything to the throttle body either. And, unless the engine was rebuilt or changed before the previous owner before me, the car has 192k miles on it.

Made 404 hp and 384 torque. He said that was really good for an LS1.

I know that the graph doesn't show the rpms, but told me it was from 2500 to 6000 pull.

I'm really impressed with the numbers.

Thanks. It exceeded my best expectations. I was hoping for maybe 375 hp but I had to ask him if he was serious when he told me. Here is a picture of the cam card.

Good numbers! It shows the rpms at the bottom of your graph. I am surprised he only pulled till 6000rpm tho. Usually with a cam and even the stock intake setup you go a little further and see where it peters out so you then know where to put the shift points.

Possible valvetrain instability? look how it starts to get wavy around 5800 rpm. That is a very aggressive lobe at 47.6.

Numbers look solid and that TQ curve...

It was done at evening. It's been warm lately. Probably was in the low 70s ambient temp

Shouldn't be too dramatic, probably 2-3% lower on power saw.

How does it feel? Any plans to hit the track?

Feels very good. I have no idea when it would get to the track. It ran a 13.6 @ 107 when it was stock and had 3.23 gears. I would hope it would be in the 12s now, dending on traction with the 3.90 gears. Alas, right after the dyno tune, I sold it to a buddy of mine. Can only have one horse in the stable at a time though. Just got a Pontiac G8 GT going yo start beefing it up soon.

Can I say that I love this cam. Not many have used it but I am really impressed with it. Only down side is how it is a little jumpy in 6th gear freeway speeds, 1500-1600 rpms. I may even get this cam for my G8.
