I do all of my work out of my garage. I am just a one man show with a passion for airflow and making power on my own. LOL. I work for no one but I have been extremely blessed to have been guided by the best in the business. I have been on these Forums since 04' putting in work though.

The stock runner is 300cc's by my measurements. Here is what I put out on another Forum some time back with my prototype head. These heads are on my car. I have since upped the intake flow by about 10cfm and about the same on the exhaust. The heads have been showing 25-30rw gains on stock cammed and cammed cars.

"Finally got the heads finished up and ran them up to the 28" SF600 bench today. I didn't grab my best ports but the ports I did first on my bench that were still right next to the stock ports. I know these numbers are easily repeatable since all the other ports I did after this one flow a small bit better. 5 cfm at most. I did mess with the exhaust seat a little on the test runner and it bit me so the .300 number on the exhaust is down about 10cfm from the others. That won't happen again. I will rework it a little to get it back in line tonight.

I focused on the .300-.600 lift numbers for the stock cam guys. I didn't increase the cross section of the heads any in either direction. Just removed what I needed to from the inside. With a different valve job and a some more short turn work I could increase the top end flow and have the head run out to .650+ lift. Right now it crashes right at .640. It doesn't gain much at all past .600 lift though. That was the point of this head. A direct bolt on to the stock motor as a complete ported top end package with my IM/TB."

Intake Flow - 1/2" clay radius inlet

Lift.........Stock......Ported......Gain
.300........212.........226..........14
.400........270.........291..........21
.500........315.........340..........25
.550........324.........355..........31
.600.......Crash.......370........ALOT

Exhaust Flow - 2"x4" exhaust pipe

Lift.........Stock......Ported......Gain
.300........173.........182...........9
.400........206.........233..........27
.500........218.........260..........42
.600........215.........266..........51

You might try a 1 or 2E stator. They are more efficient. I think its a better fit for the 8speed, since you dont need the hit of the C.

When I had the trans rebuilt in my car I sent my converter back and got what ever the latest/greatest stator was. The above car has a standard 4C.

They're both different, neither is better then the other. The E is a special order thing.

Got ya. I will admit that I am ignorant to Automatics and Converters. I haven't raced an Auto since 02'. When I sent it in I expressed what was going on to Chris and was told that I was getting the latest, greatest best of everything when I got it back. I wish I could remember what "cutting edge" stator he said they put in it.

More shifts will always generally hurt ET. Asked this one sometime ago when I found a 6L80e in comparison to the 4L80. Turbo 400 was said to do even better. The more gears help with street manners and keeping the car in a good rpm range and mpg.

Would that explain why the good ol' Powerglide is big in drag racing?

It also weighs less and requires less power to function due to fewer gears, reduced rotating weight, etc.

Some of the big dog A8 guys are now starting in 2nd and seeing pretty good results. I think the 60ft drops about a tenth and they got .2 on the top end. 9.0's to 9.1 to 8.8's. I am not sure a H/C car has the nuts down low to take advantage of the 2nd gear start. But I will eventually try it.

Sounds worth the shot. Whatever gets you well into 1:1 is the best bet.
