Default SBE LS1 243s custom cam low dyno #s

i got a 2000 SS I bought back in 2005, I had it tuned when it was 100% stock except 4.10s (6 speed). Car made 314 326. 11 years later after a set of 243s, custom .609 .602 cam, long tubes, off road Y, it made 352 351 first pull, AFR was ridiculous (10.5) and some ******* locked the computer. So I ordered a new computer, taking it back tomorrow for a tune. Is 352 low for a cammed 243 head motor thru a 6 speed? Or is the tune that far off? I sold the car in 2012 and bought it back couple weeks ago, someone else done the head cam swap. Still has LS1 stock intake and TB. Will post updates tomorrow.

Yes those numbers are extremely low. Get it re-tuned and I'm sure you'll see a big difference

Yes it's low.

For reference my 99 TA made 313/323 with a lid and cat back and stock gears. With 224/224 xer cam, long tube header, y pipe LS6 intake and mail order tune & 4.10 gears 418/404. I would expect ~90-110 hp gain over baseline with a good heads & cam package. The LS1 intake will cost some hp. Might be worth upgrading the intake before the new tune.

10.5 afr? yea that's super rich and is partly to blame on the low hp numbers.

so after new computer and retune it made 365 365. Everything looked good as far as afr timing etc. it was on a dynojet dyno. I've heard mustang dynos will show higher numbers. I know the LS1 intake isn't helping it but that still seems low to me.....

AFR was 13.6 I think. Timing was 27*.

That AFR is a bit lean. It's hard to say what's going on here. Run it at the track and see what it does. That will tell you the true tale

Thanks for posting the curve. Everything looks on the up and up. Imo that intake is killing your power. Likely you are pulling a vacuum at WOT. Even a stock ls6 intake would make a good difference.

How much difference would an LS6 intake make? Approximately

I've got a trick flow head 355 third gen also that ran 11.90s with vortec heads before I swapped them and it feels better than my third gen did with the vortecs

The LS6 intake might give you another 15 hp. No doubt the LS1 intake is holding you back some, but there's something more going on here in my opinion. That's why I suggested the track, as that will quickly confirm some things

If I am reading this right. These are stock 243's and no work has been done to them? I agree with the others the intake swap to LS6 would add approx 15hp. I remember back in the day with stock 2001 Chevy SS that made 390whp with the old T1 cam. However, I had 3.42s. I don't think your #'s are far off with the combo you have. I think stock LS6's were around 350 to 365whp.. Added a cam and they were 400 to 420whp. I am basing this on old data from memory.

Yes they are stock 243s. Cam is 230 234 .609 .602. Long tubes. Off-road Y with no cats. 3.73s with 6 speed. It made 316 bone stock with 241s. I figured 243s, a cam and long tubes would be worth more than 50 hp

Check out my thread I made 371 and 384 or whatever with bolt ons,241 heads and maybe a baby cam in it. It’s an 02 so already has ls6 intake.

You should be making more power for sure.

I'd start with a compression test...

Update......so I've been having some idle issues since I got the car, I felt the dyno numbers were low, and it was bothering me.....so I went out yesterday and decided I was gonna fine tooth comb every connector, vacuum line, etc. So I was looking over my hoses and happened upon the line coming from the PCV valve and low and behold it was COMPLETELY broke in half......so I've had a major vacuum leak the whole time. My tuner said that the car was wanting waaaaaay more fuel than normal and now we know why. But the odd thing is, it wasn't making any noise at all. If I hadn't moved the line I wouldn't have known it was broke. So with that being said, what should my setup make, estimate? It's a 230 234 .600 .602 111 LSA, 243s, putting LS6 intake on this week, long tubes, off-road Y, 6 speed. Taking it back next to retune, and he's not charging me to retune it. Anybody have similar setup with dyno?
