How were you able to clearly and definitively conclude that you were having a misfire?

Thanks,

My work is literally down the road from his shop so I picked up some injectors, coil packs and a timing chain set for my new build.

2 wet plugs and run like ****.
New plugs today, made sure all wires connect good, went to put new valve covers on and damn things wont get over the rocker arms. I had bought the yella terra rubber gasket/8mm spacer. I just put them on the other spacers to see what that does.
Drove the car and it is back to full power.. no traction through first and second gear.

Will schedule new dyno day tomorrow. I ordered flex fuel sensor tonight and buying the 80lb inspectors from Mavn. I'll dyno on pump 93 to get apple to apple comparison from pre rebuild.
Decided to do e85 since flex is now available for these cars using a 02 Tahoe operating system. Mostly to get less of a gas smell ,wife complained it stinks.
Plus side is more power.

I would love to do that but closest E85 is 20 city miles from my house. At E85 mpg that is 1/4 tank to go get gas.

I run E85 and it stinks especially when engine is cold or if the weather is really cold.
I would think needing a richer mixture than gas would make it stink more?
The E85 down here is made of of sorghum grain.

Well it stinks but it is less offensive is what I was told.

If it's worse I'll run 93 to e85 at the track

It's great to see you are making progress! Bad time of year for track times but I can't wait to see the results.

This date changed again as the transmission is giving me trouble again. Not sure what route im taking yet , may go back 6spd or just do away with lock up in the transmission and converter.

Just bolt your driveshaft to your flywheel and be done with it.

Sorry for the issues man

The shop who built it is working with me like no other would do. We may try non lock up or he will reimburse all of the money I spent to go back 6spd.
Lock up really isnt needed , its only 200 rpm drop but the converter is better without it.

I will know more tomorrow which route im going

Surprising the 4L80 is giving you issues.

Who did the converter? I would go with PTC or FTI with a lockup... FTI triple disk can lockup WOT.

I have that one sitting here. It's much much tighter and contemplating what it would do... since I could lockup at WOT and essentially get back 50HP or so uptop and lose the torque multiplication. But at 6500+ it may not matter.

It's a ptc single disk lock up and both ptc and extreme automatic told me not to lock it up at wot. Its something to do with the manual valve body and the lock up extreme dont like. He wanted me to go non lock up in the beginning.
Both of the shops also told me the converter will go two tenths quicker without the lock up disk in it and can do much better build without that disk.

Glad they are working with you. I'm sure it's frustrating to everyone.

I just talked to ptc explaining my situation and they are also willing to either take out the lock up disk or buy it back. I dont know if its transmission or converter that's causing it so didnt want to sell to someone else. They agreed so now its making that decision on auto or stick

You already know man:

Stick is much more fun
Auto wins races (Dig races anyways)

I vote for the former, every time. That's just me, though.

To be completely honest, I was as quick at the track with a stick as I was with a 4600 stall.200-4r with rmvb.
On the street, 6spd was better. Stall was what I needed it to be an could hook pretty dang good anywhere.
Not bragging but I was pretty good with a stick. With the 427, traction gonna suck on street either way.

I'm kinda leaning towards going back 6spd because of all the troubles of the auto are more than I ever had with clutches. Atleast when clutch lets go, I knew what it was
