But it wieghs a fair bit more, so 400bhp in an Fbody should mean you'd win. BUT driver has a great deal to do with it, how do you know the GTO was being driven to it's MAXIMUM potential?? Also have you ever heard of the term deminishing returns? Basically you can only do 2 things in terms of bolt ons to increase BHP. Remove items that ACTUALLY require HP such as air con, alternator, water pump. No matter the state of tune or amount of HP you are making you will see similar gains by removing them. However, induction and exhaust bolt ons can only free up so much power before the internals of the engine become the restriction. There more mods you do the less effect the others will have as for each mod you will be closer to optimising the performance. For prove of this, there are not many stock internal non power adder LS1's that produce more than ~360rwhp and that's probably on a dynojet so it's also a high reading. If you assume 300rwhp as a realistic stock number LS6 intake - 20rwhp LT's - 25rwhp Catback - 5rwhp !CATS - 10rwhp Ported TB - 8rwhp Lid - 10rwhp K&N - 2rwhp If you believe the numbers literally even those simple mods should give you 380rwhp - THIS IS TOTAL BOLLOX  The numbers for each mod are probably correct if that mod was applied to a STOCK car each time. If you already have mods then each gain will be less. In all reality I doubt very much that there are any STOCK INTERNAL non power adder LS1 producing much more than 400bhp at the engine. which would put an Fbody at about ~350-360rwhp TOPS. Miss-calculated and optpmistic claims of HP do NOT actiully make acar faster or more powerful. |
well i never said 380rwhp.. i said 340rwhp 350rwhp at the most |
What he fail's to mention is my car had a stock shifter which ton's of gto' owner's complain about, and at the high mph roll's it was head to head if you want to try it again bring your car to tn im a 100% sure you will get smoked' Ill bring my camcorder you bring your wallet ..  |

- I agree with 300bhp/ton, F-body's have got to max out around the 360's from bolt-ons and each gain from a mod is ralative to what mods the car has already. 350 RWHP is a very rough gusstimate after racing a GTO with there being so many differences. My guess after the headers you'll have about 360rwhp, get it dynoed, let us know. Also what is a Blackbird?? As far I know I thought there was Firebirds V6's, Trans Ams V8, Ram Airs V8 and Firehawks V8, is this some sort of special version |
you are probably at 330 max.. i know you would like to think that you are making more power, i understand, and I'm sure your car is fast..... but what you beat on the street has nothing to do with power.... so don't go talking about how much power your car has until you dyno it |
FWIW: 02' Camaro SS with SLP LT w/ random tech cats, SLP center mount exh., ASP crank pulley, blackwing lid, Granatelli MAF '85 /no screen, bellows, HP air-filter and tuned. (post graph later on). Dyno Tuned = "350rwhp" pretty much on the money tq = about the same. |
it's also Matt murphy(owner of GMMG) who feed's he's black bird owner's with bull shit saying they destroys Z06s and that they all dyno at 350 rwhp and the was he's like want an extra 75 hp that will be 7 grand :gay: for some 425 sticker's on the hood all he say's is the car comes with cat back whisper lid but it make's 380 hp |

actually it has ALL to do with the driver.....think about it.. |
Just FYI, the 05 GTO's don't hook worth a crap. It's not uncommon for guys to go high 13's or low 14's and spin the tires. It's funny on the GTO forums to listen to guys pissing and moaning because they can't make the car hook. Stock 05 goats are putting down 330 to 340 at the wheels stock. To make a horsepower estimate based on what you think another car has is a bit of a stretch in my book. Go spend $100 for 3 pulls somewhere and find out. |
