Thumbs up TUNED MS3 Cam-Only SS: 405RWPH & 368RWTQ SAE

Finally got my MS3 & bolt ons car finished and tuned by Alvin Anderson of PCMForLess.com - final results were 405RWHP & 368RWTQ SAE on a DynoJet.

Click here to check out the graph!

A quick overview of the car's engine/drivetrain mods:
  • MS3 Cam
  • FAST 90mm Intake Manifold (De-ridged by Jonathan@Tick Performance)
  • Nick Williams 90mm Throttle Body
  • Powerbond Underdrive Pulley
  • Coated Pacesetter Headers into TSP True Duals
  • Spohn chromemoly driveshaft
  • Moser 9" with 4.11 gears
The car is using STOCK 1998 Heads with STOCK bottom end, and was dyno'd on the 275/40/17 Mickey Thompson Drag Radials.

Special thanks to Tick Performance in Mount Airy, NC for building the car to my exact (picky!) specifications, special thanks to Dan Desio of Pro-Dyno for getting us F-Body guys in during his Cobra Dyno Day, and special thanks to Alvin Anderson of PCMForLess.com for taking his time and experimenting with the car. This thing drives like stock until you get on the loud pedal! I couldn't be happier.

Now we've just got to work on getting track times down!

I'm sure that 9" and 4.11 gears are robbing you of some power on the dyno. What injectors are you using and whats your duty cycle? Also, I know you have rod bolts, how high are you shifting when you race?

The rear and gears certainly aren't helping on the dyno - the car made 415RWHP & 381RWTQ on the same setup before the 9". Stock 28lb injectors, I'll have to check on the duty cycle. The car does have Katech Rod Bolts, shifting ~6900, limiter is at 7200.

Very stout numbers. I cant wait til i get the bird running with the ms3 and the prc heads. Everything is in just waiting on the intake gaskets. Cant wait til i get it to the track.

did you gain anything at all from tuning? I know you dynoed ~424/400 std with no tuning.

I gained 7-8whp from tuning (comparing SAE to SAE) - it came in already VERY lean, so that didn't leave too awful much on the table. The driveability differences are like night & day.
