Not bad but those are the numbers I will be hoping for with an unlocked converter when I get some ETP 215's this winter. I don't know how much of a difference it makes locked vs unlocked. I just dynoed 403/351 cam only w/ an unlocked 4900 8" converter.

Congratulations on some great numbers.

A few questions – Was the sudden drop at ~6200 the converter unlocking and then locking back up?
Was your cut out opened?
What thickness are the head gaskets?
What is your compression ratio?

Thanks

John

Hey,
Larry at Speed Inc. told me sometimes the converter doesn’t want to say locked, and that’s what happened to me. The converter unlocked at 6200, Larry said if it would have stay locked it would have been close to 440-445 rwhp. I’m not sure on the cut out, maybe Larry can chime in. The gaskets were approximately 0.056" thickness and the compression is 11.5:1

Pretty soon... I wanna get a few miles on this rear end first... and then I am gonna give it hell... your torque seems a little bit low?

Yea, need to break in the rear 1st.. Yea, the TQ is low, but alot of guys are saying its cause of the verter.. Dont know if anyone has compared TQ from a fuddle to a yank (or any other kind for that matter). I guess you get what you pay for. But, the track numbers are more what I am concerned about. I just need to get some ET streets or something and then im good to go.
Also, my shortblock does have 99,000 miles on it, so not too bad considering this.

Nice looking ride. Great numbers for a A4 with a damn dana rear. Little over kill.
I bet these about a 22-25% drivetrain loss with that combo.
Good luck at the track.

That might be valvetrain instability instead of converter issues. The 977s have caused more than a few people problems on here with the ETP 215s.
