Nice numbers! Ported stock heads?

52172 Jul 23, 2006 09:28 AM

Yes ported stock heads with 2.02 1.6 valves flow 299@ .600 and 306 @ .650. Comp pro mag rockers 1.75 with a .581 lift comp cam. Power falls off abruptly at 5800 rpms not too sure why maybe the short tube headers or the way the cam is installed with a lot of advance. Anyway it drives great and has great torque and pulls very hard all the way to redline which is set at 6200.

Oh numbers before were with same exhaust and an lingenfelter aluminum intake and slp 1:85 rockers with factory cam. Picked up 75 rwhp with the H/C package not too shabby huh?

SouthFL.02.SS Jul 23, 2006 10:06 AM

That's one very impressive, very streetable setup. Very nice.

thanks bro!!!!!! It will even pass the Ca sniffer!! I have mufflex test pipes on there now I would just have to bolt in the factory cats in their factory location.

whats SAE?

52172 Jul 23, 2006 12:56 PM

Those numbers are std i believe so that makes them slightly higher than sae right.

lilbuddy1587 Jul 23, 2006 03:24 PM

power falls off @ 5800 because of valve train instability

52172 Jul 23, 2006 03:39 PM

wrong running new 921 comp valve springs.

SouthFL.02.SS Jul 23, 2006 04:24 PM

He may be referring to this: Comp pro mag rockers 1.75

Either way, it would be good to investigate why power falls off abruptly. The graph seems like that's simply where the pull was aborted.

52172 Jul 23, 2006 04:28 PM

Does everyone have problems with the 1.75 rockers? I brought the car back and had them do a full pull to 6200 and it falls off pretty abruptly not sure why. the shop thought it was the small cam, but it might be the rockers? It was down about 15 horse power by 6200 rpms's. I do not have the funds to take it too a shop to put the stock rockers back on? Anyone else have problems with the comp 1.75 rockers?

SouthFL.02.SS Jul 23, 2006 04:33 PM

Putting stock rockers back on is very easy. Give it a try, pull a few more times on the dyno and see the results. Wouldn't hurt.
Consult www.ls1howto.com for install info. Rocker removal and install is detailed in the cam swap section if I recall.

There's more to it than just your springs :) So before bluntly saying I'm wrong, you should investigate it a little further as southflo. stated.

Yes, people have lots of problems with the aftermarket rockers being too heavy and it usually shows at about 5800-6k rpms. So, I'd do as southflo. said and change back to the stockers. It's pretty easy :chug:
