I am still suprised how much of a curve there is in the tq, although they are nice numbers, expecially considering the mustang dyno.
You're not accustomed to seeing dyno pulls start so low in the RPM band....that's whats throwing you off. Had you had the opportunity to check one off your own combo's that low and look at the TQ curve I will bet the "hump" is even higher. Here's how the graph looks in a more traditional rpm range and I'm still featuring a starting point lower than most (2600 RPM's where this animal is already producing around 400 RWTQ on a Mustang dyno (approximately 430 RWTQ on an inertia style DynoJet or the equivalent). You can see the TQ curve on this gragh looks alot flatter and its a mountain of TQ early in the curve. Note the numbers are identical....we are just looking at a slightly more narrow range of display data....

Hope this helps,
Tony

Yup... thats insane. And like Tony said, it just goes to show you what a properly put together setup can achieve. I mean look at that cam...

Nice work!

And what a day yesterday was! I had a little trouble with my roll back last night. I was coming back from Chicago with a Corvette on the truck, when the inner left rear tire blew. I nursed it along as I was by Merryville when it happened. I slowed down to 40 to 45 mph and thought I could make it home. Suddenly I picked up a vibration which I thought was the outer left rear tires getting ready to blow, when the truck went darn near sideways on me. As I fought to keep it on the road I saw a tire and wheel pass me and since the truck was almost sideways the tire and wheel went through the median and crossed the other two lanes of the highway and ended up way off by a woods! I was able to bring the truck to a stop and I couldn't believe what I saw. The right rear outer tire and rim were missing, all the lug nuts were gone, and the inner tire and wheel were almost off! We had recently had a shop down the road from us replace the inner tire on the right rear, after it had blown on me, and they apparently did not get the lug nuts tight.... I'm lucky the inner left rear had blown, which kept my speed down!
I unloaded the Corvette and drove it to the shop. Anyone want to buy a good used roll back? I've personally blown four tires on it so far... Bob

Sorry to bring up an old thread but would this combination pass CA smog emissions with some shorty headers? Im thinking about a 402 for my 2003 ECSB z71 Silverado.

Might pass CA emissions just the way it is, but to be safe I would widen the LSA a few degrees on the cam which would reduce overlap helping to clean things up a bit so you have no issues passing....Obviously a perfect combination for what you are considering.

My cam specs are a little smaller than that(232/236) and the car feels awsome! I am headed back to the dyno soon and expect to be over 500

yeah this post and yours are the ones that made me rethink it. i did some CR calculating and if i advance this cam 2* with .010 out of hole and 12cc relieve pistons, my 61cc AFR 205s (i love them) ill be at SCR11.3 and 8.8DCR. only thing i wont have is the FAST90 combo but im gonna have my LS6 proted ( i know the machine chop port guy in town). i hope it works out well i want tons for torque down low. plus my 150 shot

AFR, (J/K)

Mine does (close through an a4 anyway)......... but you built it

I still owe you a few things Tony including an updated dyno sheet with the 3.46 gears re-installed, results from a newly installed 150 N2O shot and a video; Lance is working on it as I write this.

Laura took a video of me at Great Lakes dragway, but I ran over the last timing cone, got yelled at over the PA system "guy in the black GTO, learn to drive your damn car!!" and shut the track down for close to 45 minutes

Sorry for the thread hijack. My point is that Tony can put together killer combinations and that's why I chose him for my dream build. Congrats to everyone involved in the build and tune, just outstanding results !!!

Roy
