The only way to get down to this.. Is to bring in a F-body all stock or with the same mods..Do a Dyno with Kooks headers/Amercian Racing hearders with y-pipe and cats or no cats.. Then get a Dyno chart for the comparrison.. That will be the only way to tell the difference to see which one give you more HP/TQ.. With a Tune and without will be helpful too.. Its my understanding that all headers will you give you about the same HP and TQ.. with a tune about roughly 25HP.. I guess the only real difference is the material the use to make the headrs.. Stainless vs.. ceramic coating.. Somebody help us............

You know what I bought the ARH because the HV merges and the real Y collector but they both are a great header. You can go wrong either way guys so its just what you like. Cars with both set ups have been proven to make great power.

After all this time I think people are now figuring out that this thread was legit.
Many of us now know the quality of the ARH systems. We choose to sell their systems after seeing the quality first hand.
Let’s not be fooled Kooks knows how to build some quality products but IMO the ARH product is just that much better.
We can barely keep their product in stock and have nothing but happy customer's after receiving and installing their product.
I wonder from those that bad mouthed this product last year what do you think about it now that's it been a huge success in the F body, Corvette, and GTO market?

I just noticed this thread was ancient, but after reading it all my first question was how old were the original cats that came off the kooks headers? I could see some crusty old cats causing quite a drop in HP.

Could be a good point noone has brought up. Old clogged cats, vs new more advanced cats. Hummm.

From the horses mouth, old crusty cats were not the case in this comparision.

all the research I have done I have still come to the same conclusion of Lg pro long tube headers are the most powerful header on the market for a c5. Even with the 1 3/4 inch primaries compared to other 1 7/8" primaries. Lou Gigliotti made over 600 rwhp NA with a H/C ls7 through the rearend with 1 3/4 lg pro long tubes headers. He said he did not feel the need or see a restriction on the topend to move up to a 1 7/8 inch header that is why he does not make one.

any comparisons on non catted C5s. I changed from LGs to Kooks 1 7/8 to 2 inch stepped headers. Installation was a nightmare. I dynoed 503rwhp on a mustang dyno with the LGs and after the Kooks were installed I dynoed 450rwhp on a Dynojet (reset A/F during the dyno session) WTF. Is it the dyno or did I loose 50 rwhp? I took it to the track, times and MPH stayed the same.
My guess is one of the dyno's are incorrect. I hate to think I spent 1400.00 to loose 50 rwhp. Hmmmmmmm

No offense, but why in the hell would you do that? What kind of sense does that make to go through all that trouble for the minimal if any difference in power?

If you pulled the same MPH then you didn't lose any power. I installed my 1 7/8ths Kooks headers on my C5 and didn't have a fit problem at all. I couldn't believe how easy they went on.
