G5X4 dyno'd today... dyno'd today at lg after they tuned it and came out with 355rwhp and 360rwtq (mods in sig)....any clue what would help these #s out the most? this was with exhaust ran to back over axle (stock type 3" pipe without mandrel bends) and through small race muffler. what am i really givin up using the stock ls1 intake....? |
Is that on a mustang dyno? If not then those seem low from all the stuff I read on here. Maybe the stock heads are really holding ya back? |
no...i wish they had been mustang dyno numbers....but it was a dynojet... i was really disappointed with the numbers..... i know lg's parts and tuning are tried and true, i'm just trying to figure out why it's not working out for me.... |
|
what intake? |
ls6 intake + cutout + retune |
ls1 intake....and what is your guess a ls6 intake and cutout, retuned on this setup would add....? https://ls1tech.com/forums/lsx-parts-sale/609975-ls1-headers-true-dual-exhaust-air-lid-columbus-oh.html if this for sale post is true....then the pulley, and g5x4 only got me 4 hp.... |
you should be making a definate 400rwhp with that cam, ls6 intake a good exhaust & all the supporting bolt ons. a strong engine should make 410-415 rwhp. |

i think the LS6 will help out more on this car than a stock ls1 or a mild bolt on car because with that cam, that engine is starving for more airflow than a stock LS1 so when you start giving this motor more air, I bet you'll see better gains over a stock ls1. I HIGHLY doubt your going to gain 40rwhp. |
new motor with good pistons and rings file fit to the honed stock bore as well as valves seated and pressure checked....i sure hope i'm not down on compression.... maybe it is the exhaust really hurting me.... |
Run open headers and see what that gets ya. Like they say maybe the setup is really being choked. I hope you figure it out. |
One other thing. who did the cam install and if not you, are sure you got what you paid for? |
short block and cam install was done by a pretty reputable company around here that does alot of dirt track motor builds. i have a close friend there who oversaw it all. i showed up one day before they had the front cover back on so i did infact see that the cam was installed heads up just like lg wants them. new pistons are two eyebrow relief (as opposed to complete flattops like factory) so i figured down some compression there but heads were cut 12 thousandths so that otta make up for that. if i don't figure out where i'm losing this power, that noszle fogger system in the for sale forum is starting to look real good.... :) also asked dyno man about knock retard and he said i was good there so....i guess i'll throw a cut out and a ls6 intake at it and see what happens one more thing, dyno man said he couldn't delete o2 ses light for some reason. he didn't elaborate, but i'm thinkin maybe it's a defective o2 sensor. could this be a power issue even though my afr is good? |
what # injectors? MY dp kit with that motor will make KILLER numbers. the kit looks good both ways :) as for the o2 delete i don't think that would affect much other than a SES light. |
i think 98's had 28lb injectors so i guess thats what it has... assuming i don't really have any big problems with the motor other than low numbers, what do you think that kit could get me at the wheels...? i have a good pump just not in yet.... and isn't it about time for LOUIS to come in and tell me why his cam isn't giving me some monster numbers even with the ls1 intake and muffler on....? |
