Default TSP 5.3L stage 2.5 heads dyno results

My '02 vette LS1 with Kooks LT's, hi-flow cats, Corsa cat back, Halltech stinger intake and MTI X1 cam made 384rwhp.

Added TSP heads, .040 cometic gaskets for 11.18:1 SCR and 8.55:1 DCR. Also added Shanner ported TB and ASP UD pulley. Before and after results below.

Here is a video of the run. Right click & save to target

Didn't ask, I'm sure it's set up for a safe street tune as that is what Jason normally does. I'll ask him tomorrow.

I didn't gain anything on the dyno with a ASP pulley nor a Shaner S2 truck throttle body. If I had gained 40rwhp/30rwtq on a pair of heads, I'd be satisfied.

Did you need to shim the springs within .050 coil bind, or were they already setup correctly? You've got a PM.

Nice numbers for a such a medium sized cam. You did gain 30rwtq which is impressive.

If you want more power.... plop in a bigger cam.

Jim your PM box is full. To answer your question I don't know about the .050 coil bind setup, MTI installed the heads for me, I'll ask them. Also, I did not receive a flow sheet.

PM's cleaned. I'd appreciate the answer from MTI

Yeah, although the numbers don't look that great compared to some of the "internet" results you see, I'd say a 40 rwhp and 30 rwtq gain is pretty decent.

I don't think that you are off that much. I basically have the same setup that you do except for 2 things. I have a little large cam and 1 3/4" American Racing Header. You are only short 7hp and 10tq of what I did. The larger headers are hurting you some on torque and your smaller lift on your cam is where you could be losing hp. I think you have some pretty good gains myself.

The heads were built & setup for the guys here @ TSP. They are all set up exactly the same thanks to the cnc seat & guide machine.

The heads ship with 2.023" intake valve height & 2.027" exhaust valve height. As a result we set them up with a .020" thicker shim to keep the spring kit setup correctly

Hey I thought you had a red Vette???

Numbers do seem low, (specifically the TQ) considering that it looks like you did all your homework with the combo, i.e. quench, static compression, DCR, etc...

I not would say your are off by much though...

If I got 40rwhp from heads I would be more than satisfied. I have seen some only gain 20-30rwhp. Your cam only numbers are about 15-20 lower than most cam only cars these days.

Looks like a solid gain

I agree the cam-only numbers started you off short... The gain from heads looks ok....

I'm only running the MTI X1 cam so it's about right. If I threw a MS3 or 4 in it I'm sure the #'s would go up.
