Default stroked 5.0 vs me

ok i just got a few texts from my bro in law, he says he has a guy waiting for me to get my car all buttoned up, and he wants to be the first to run me. i dont know all his mods, but so far i know he has a fox with a stroked 5.0, and spray. from what i hear, he runs pretty good. and i haven't been to the track to practice. i really don't mind losing, but i am gonna do everything i can to not lose. my specs are in my sig, and i will be on some meaty DR's. with spray. most likely a 150 shot. i know foxes are light, and if he has a stroker, then its probably built to hold a decent shot, same as me, but i have more cubes, and probably better flowing heads. well it will be fun no matter what, cant hardly wait.

I'd be surprised if he has a chance with you shottin' a pill at yours, but need more info on the fox to really know.

The odds are heavily in your favor, if your car doesn't have mechanical issues.

I'd definitely shake it down before I stepped up to him.

ok, the guy is saying that he wants to also run at least one race with both of us on motor. I'm thinking that's the one i will barely break a sweat on. of course mine hasn't been dyno'd, but looking at other builds with the same setup, they usually put down close to 500whp. i have trouble seeing even a stroked 5.0 doing that. but then again i don't want to get all puffed up and have him drag my *** down the street.
Pony since your a stang guy, what could he have under the hood that i should worry about. besides a supercharger, which no one has said anything about, so i don't think he is FI

i sure hope not, i gave him all he could handle with what 3 or 4 people in my car, while he was spraying, and i had a cracked spark plug and a shitty tune with my ls1. theres no way that guy ran 11's. no there's at least 3 or 4 other fox-bodys around here that race, and one is a county cop. he has burn out marks all u and down the street in front of his house and he has at least 2 foxes i know of.

well the camaro's at the shop they say it will be done in 2 weeks, and they say the last 408 they built with stock l92 heads and a smaller cam than mine put down 485whp, so I'm crossing my fingers to see 500whp. i don't see a fox giving me trouble unless 1) he sprays the ***** off his car, or 2) he has some kinda serious cash spent on parts i don't know about. or i guess 3) i cant drive worth a ****

Jester, that fox could be a high compression 347 w/ a 200 shot sitting in a 2700lb car. Granted he won't put down the same numbers n/a as you but he could possibly be close to 1000lbs lighter than you.

How much does your car weigh?

i havent had my car weighed, but im sure its not light, its T-topped and leather, and 12bolt, now with an iron block. probably 37-3800 with me in it. i agree, there's a reason these guys are confident, i just wont know till i get my car ready, and noone wants to talk, so getting info about these foxes is like pulling teeth. i have ran one around here before, like koon was talking about, him me, and one other guy were in my car when it was not 100% and i was slowly walking away, while he sprayed but i had the notorious trouble getting into 4th problem, and he shot past when i missed it. and i was cam, full exhaust, and 243 heads. but i do agree, built foxes are no joke.

Get your car tuned and 'broken' in. He could have a lot of different setups so I'd ask around about it if you can.

anywhere from a measely 302 E303 cam to a nice 347 setup like Mark mentioned.

I have found that the guys with a big mouth usually end up having a slow car. Its the ones that play down their car or say "it does aight" are the ones I always watch out for.
