Racing a pullied cobra next week

Racing a pullied cobra next week with a JLT intake and sct tune. I have a 08 vette with headers, intake, and tune. Should be pretty fun, just met the guy, seems pretty cool. He took me for a ride and it seems to pull pretty hard but that's without the tune and intake. He is getting that stuff this week. Racing from a 20 punch

I'm guessing 03-04 cobra?? Should be a fairly close race, but my guess would be that he should edge you out, granted he is a decent driver of course. The vettes fly, but a pullied cobra should hold its own. Take a video! I would like to see the outcome. It's all in good fun.

Depends, what transmissions do you have. If you are a M6 with your mods you should be pretty close power wise, and with your weight vs his, you are a lot lighter. You should take him without too much of a problem, driver dependant of course. If you are auto, well you might just lose that one.

Wrong forum... but if you have an LS2 it should be close.

'08 was LS3- which I assume is what you meant? A bolton LS2 vette against a pullied/bolton Cobra whould be a loss from a roll for the vette.

Couldn't remember if the LS3 came in '08 or '09. A bolt-on LS3 should beat a pullied Cobra though.

My car is a 08 ls3 automatic making 413rwhp.

This should be a great race. Of course this is all assumptions since we don't have every detail, but you're probably making about 50 or so less rwhp, you probably weigh around 400-450 pounds less, and you have an aerodynamic advantage that will help once you get crankin.

But, I don't know the transmission and rear gearing for each car off the top of my head. From 20mph, those will factor in heavily on who gets the jump assuming you both have traction (the other big factor).

I personally think it will depend on how well he drives and who has more traction from the hit. 20mph from first gear is tough on traction for any car making over 400rwhp.

Vette will get the jump and the cobra will probably stop (or minimize) his pull, but after 110+ Vette will creep away.

Get this race on video :chug:

In my opinion

If all he has is a pulley, CAI, tune with no other supporting mods

You will walk away at any speed. Your prob making similar power, your probably a couple hundred pounds lighter and more aerodynamic.

i have a pullied, intake, tune Cobra. me and a buddy had almost this exact race last weekend and he pulled me by 2 cars. granted i had the top down and a passenger. i think with the top up and no passenger it would have been a damn good race...we went 40-145 btw
