i think you will beat him. from a roll they are kinda sluggish especially stock, from a dig he will have a better chance if he can drive and also depends on how much he hates his car but i think you will still get him. a sti launched really hard while hooking= broken parts ask me how i know ha. get it on a gopro and post up the vids

I got to 1.6 60 foot time with my sti stock so they launch hard, then tried a 6500 clutch drop with the Cobb stage 1 tune and those sicky potazas and snapped the right rear axle. 650 bucks later I got it goin. Still ran a 9.3 in the 1/8th without bein able to get after it. But my best time was 8.6 @84 or 86 stock, never got to run with the stage 1 tho cuz I broke the axle. They run good and trap well but it takes practice launching without bogging it. They are alot easier to launch on the street too.

I've got a buddy that has a bug eye with a Spec-C swap, HTA turbo, header, tune, injectors, gears, etc etc. (it's tuned conservative: 5 Speed being the weak link now) He raced me in my Formula that has a few bolt ons, no tune and he stayed about 4-5 cars behind dropping further back as we went. As much as I love the WRX and it's 8k redline, the LS cars pull better up top.
You should take him easy, even without hooking hard you should pull pretty hard.

Yeah I beat an STI a few months ago, i'm not sure on the mods but the turbo was much louder/noticable than a stock one (might have been stage 2). I also had someone in the car with me and he got the move and I pulled him pretty hard!
