I think i'm running the 10.50 class instead
My work just announced reduced hours, we are cutting back to 30 hours a week.(I used to work 55-60)
I just can't put the car at a priority right now, if things change towards the beginning of the summer we'll get the cage done and whatever else needed to run the 9.50 class. I'll probably do a rental and see what the car can do, then work on dialing it in for the 10.50 class.
I'll be more competitive in the 10.50 class, it will just suck slowing the car down to hit the number.
On the bright side, I got the car back from my tranny guy Saturday. The new circle D converter has been installed along with a new SFI flexplate. I had him install a Trans temp gauge. We rebuilt the tranny from top to bottom and he rollerized the back end of it. He says the tranny is good for 1000 horsepower. He also gave me a 1 year parts/labor warranty on a race tranny
So I'm ready to go racing once Don checks the tune over

We've cut back our guys to 40 hrs a week and we're installing less of the crap that you guys sell. Everyone is tightening up... Just be glad you've still got a job and you've got a race car thats pretty much ready to go. Besides... your going to need a 10.20 car to run in that class. Lots of bracket guys run the 10.50 so having a little extra on tap to run someone down will help a lot.

ya i hear that but 200 plus the 700 for the bars is too much for me... for the car atleat... but its all understandable.. will still be a fun race year .. even racing someone elses car in the 11.5 class was a blast.....

Well put it this way, when running an index, you want to be faster then the time so you can slow the car down, or adjust for weather. You do not want your best time on the coldest day with the best prep to be at 10.50, because the days where the track is less then optimal your going to get crushed off the track.
At least you can still afford to take the car to the track most like me are holding off because its an extra cost that I have to plan for.

Unfortunately, fun/mad money could possibly be scarce for many of us this race season, plus gasoline is starting to ramp back up in price and looks as though us Ma. people are going to get whacked w/a new $.27 gas tax in the near future. Should be interesting to see if this economy will devastate car counts at NED, LVD and other tracks around the country. Hopefully, it won't hurt turnout too much. After this nasty winter everyone seems anxious for a early Spring season....today we're getting a nice tease. (Mid-50's in central Ma.!) WJ

Great idea, raising tax's in a recession. MA is rediculious, tolls everywhere, excise tax, sales tax, property tax went up a lot in the last couple years. Now they are trying to pass a bill to get other states to report sales from MA residents when they are out of state so they can wack you with that!!!
Well I live close to NH, so I'll make sure I pay for my gas there, in cash.

Yes, and Gov. Patrick really needs that office and full staff in DC, too! Hopefully, Pres. OB will give him a federal job (maybe watching over the contaminated peanut factory down in Ga.) and get him out of here....if there was a Ma. gov. election tomorrow, he'd never be re-elected. A-1 *** clown for sure....

I think yo're gonna find that when it's 95 outside that you won't be turning it back as much as you think, geting the DA up in the 3000+ range, and the track getting a little greasy from the heat, and youll be glad you have a setup that can run better then the # by about a 1/2 second is what you want anyway, then you get to play the pedal game on the top end which is gonna be a must for any index type class.
I hear ya on the cutback's though, I'm leaving my heap parked for the year for a reason. I have little faith that my job will be around by july at the rate things are going, and if it is, I bet we're all gonna be laid off 1 week out of the month if we still have jobs at all. That, plus needing the time to do some stuff with the house are putting a damper on my season this year. I'll try to snag a part here and there, that I can use on this or the next project whichever ends up happening.
Unless Eastside decides they want to take it to memphis, the car won't move an inch this year. Sucks, but unfortunately that's how it has to be.

You will have a great time running the 10.50 class. the cost to be competitive seems to go up exponentially with the classes. 11.50 = half the field street cars and half race cars with very little carnage. 10.50 all race only cars but mostly low to medium dollar stuff. the 9,50 and faster classes are serious bucks to be competitive.
Personally I found it a huge advantage to have a car that could not quite run the number in the heat. I could run it all out every pass and if I cut a good light it would usually be a win. I had more trouble in the cool air when the car would run .51s and .52s all day then run a .48 by night time or the end of day in fall. I lost 3 races in the semi finals by running a .48 or .49. Its very tough to feel the difference between a .48 and a .51.
Fortunately my car should be much more consistent this year with a trans that shifts and a spool to spin both rear tires. Having slowhawk run the same class will be very interesting--- ME: "HEy Don can you check my shift points they need a little tweak" Don: Ya no problem your all set now. 1st elimination --- I thought you said 4500 shift
As for the economy by the time Deval, obama, pelosi get done with us a .27 cent gas tax will look like chump change. We have pretty much turned to socialism and last I checked they dont do a lot of drag racing in cuba or North korea. Enjoy it while you can cause life as we know it is coming to an end. If you can afford a race car you is RICH and obumma promised your stuff to people who wont work.
