Big Brother coming to MA
http://www.wbur.org/news/2009/83078_20090209.asp
not only is the governor trying to get a 27cent increase on the gas tax during tough economic times, he also wants to start putting 'tracking devices' inside your registration sticker to tax you on how many miles you drive.
the funny thing is, the state already logs your mileage when you get your state inspection done... they even provide this information to your insurance company to make sure you dont get any low mileage discounts that you dont deserve. why cant they just use the existing mileage logging? looks like they want to track more than just mileage

I am thinking sales tax free NH is sounding better and better. I would be close to the track too. Mr Patrick is a real piece of work isnt he. Lets raise the gas tax so the price of EVERYTHING goes up. Think about it everything you buy gets moved by fuel (Trains, Trucks, Cars) so the more it costs to move it the more it costs to buy it. I could go on for ever about him.

You don't work you don't eat.
Why do I gotta bust my *** at work and pay rediculious taxes so some reject can get free money, healthcare, residence, subsidized everything...
Atleast I can say I didn't vote for any of this.

When is the stupid government going to realize that you can cut spending to make up for a budget deficet as well??!?!?!
EX:
If you make 1000/week, your expenses are 500/week. You now have 500/week in dicretionary money available. This means you can spend 500 on whatever you want, you wouldn't go out and spend 2000 dollars because you have 500 dollars!!
The government does that very thing though. Lets Increase welfare spending 30% even though we are already in the hole by 20%, we'll just tax increase they working class another 10% and still be in the hole 40%...............STUPID MORONS!!!!!!
Sorry my rant is done...

i say get rid of the pike authority and make it a 'regular' highway. if you read the entire article, they say that they have to raise the taxes because of the 'cost of going green'. since people are driving less, the state is getting less money to maintain the roads... well if people are driving less, arent the roads getting proportionately less wear and tear?!?
MA also needs to put a stop to police detail on highway construction... just like the other 49 states.
guys... Dallas has one of the most stable housing and job markets in the nation. you seriously should consider it. I bought an 1850sq ft house 15mi from downtown dallas for $120k two years ago. at that time, an equilavent house in Danvers, MA was going for $450k.
...and you can drive your car year round down here

I like the idea but you guys are looking at it wrong. Over the last two years and for another year or two unemployment rates have and will go up. There has been no increase for government spending for the unemployed, including welfare. This means that while the amount of money supplied goes down (fewer people working), the amount of americans who can't find a job because the economy if f-ed goes up. Then since you did not set money aside for these people you are giving them money that the government does not have. By doing this you sink more into the red, and do I have to remind you that we are in a massive debt.
Bush screwed us, he didn't have a republican plan or democratic plan... he had no plan. He didn't even have a clue. He just spent and spent on anything that came across his desk. McCain lost the election because Bush was titled a Republican when in reality Bush was just slime. Hope that Obama is not of the same ilk and don't condemn a man who has not even been given the chance to fail or succeed. Let's hope this guy can do some good while in office.

Obama already F/U, he passed a spending bill not a stimulas plan
More then 90% of the bill was for entitlement programs...this so called stimulas plan was pay back to all the people and programs that got him elected! As far as i'm concerned, ALL politicians are in it for themselves or their party, and not for the good of the Country We need to wake up as citizens and make changes to our Goverment (both parties).....because we have the fox watching the hen house!

they want to use the tracking devices instead of toll booths... doesnt that get accomplished by the current ez-pass system?

I must agree with that, every politician is corrupt no matter the party or even independant. If I lived in MA I would fight the taxation of mileage driven tooth and nail... It's total bullshit.

The easy pass only charges folks that drive through a toll gate. The new monitoring system would charge everyone that drives! Plus, it would eliminate lots of toll takers and those dogs(mostly lazy people with connections) make like $25hour with full bennies and 258 paid holidays per year.
does anyone have an M1 Abrams or an F-16 handy to start a militia with? cuz we need a few dozen of those to stand a chance at overthrowing the gov't.
