Default Anyone in MA/CT good with LT1s?

I want to change the valve seals on my car (97 Formula) and I'm wondering if there's anyone around who has some experience with LT1s that could help me with it. I do my own basic repairs but I've never touched any internals and I don't want to screw it up, especially when it comes to getting the rockers adjusted right. I could bring the car anywhere within about 100 miles of the Springfield MA area, and will gladly pay a fair price for the labor. I'd rather work with someone on it to get some experience rather than bringing it to a shop. Post up or PM me if interested, thanks!

It smokes some when first started. It goes through a lot of oil though, 1 quart in about 1,200 miles. No symptoms of bad compression either. It's been like this for as long as I've owned it.

Any external leaks, and I mean any oil on the underside of the carraige? Also the miles?

As for seals, here is an idea, who ever does the job can get a set of vitron seals from Fel-pro and put some upgraded beehive springs, something from PAC.

Eventually I assue a cam will go in and at that time the valve train needs to be there and this is the time to do the job.

Wish I was a bit closer, and had access to a garage.

I am installing my rear drag bar this week and yesterday i planned on finishing but we had a freak snow storm with very cold rain, and my house has a upsloaping hit which gets hammered w/ wind gusts.....

89,000 miles, no major external leaks, a little bit of seepage from the front and rear main seals. Never any puddles of oil underneath.

Honestly I really don't plan on doing a cam, certainly not any time soon. I really just want to get these seals changed and see if that fixes the oil consumption.

Have you ever had the intake manifold off to fix the infamous intake leak they have in the back?

Personally, if your doing seals, then your doing springs and if your doing springs, put something decent in there that is good to 0.600" lift.

No, but wouldn't I have oil running down the back of the engine if I had an intake manifold leak? No external leaks except a little seepage from the crank seals...

Taking off the valve covers is not exactly "in there"...

It IS a performance car. Unless you want to argue that 350 hp constitutes a performance car but 300 hp does not...

If I wanted to build a car I would go with the LS1 just because of the better aftermarket support.

If you have time.. learn and then do it yourself. You'll feel better. Before I did the rx7 I was just changing oil

This winter I plan to pull my whole drivetrain and do the engine/tranny.. Gotta learn somewhere, and I'm pretty **** about doing research before doing a project.
