Emissions with LT's

So I live in Mass and im not sure if I will be able to pass emissions if I install long tube headers on my car. I was told its 50/50. How would I get by this?

youll have to get a tune i think. depending on the states regulations w/ OBD2 you can make it pass legally through the computer they plug it into. There are several readiness monitors that need to be complete and normally its required that no more than 2 are incomplete. Ive deleted my rear O2s and turned off misc SES lights that accompany those sensors. As long as you dont have a service light on and most all your readiness monitors are complete and they dont 'sniff' your car...you should pass. just make sure its not too loud, and check about using cats vs off road pipes and what your state requires. I have pacesetters w/ off road y pipe but i retained the stock ws6 muffler. it sounds tough but its not obnoxious and i pass with flying colors.. hope that helps some

Its quite at idle with the magnaflow exhaust. Gets loud up top, but nothing they would notice. I got a sticker today but the guy told me the LTs might not fly..

We install alot of longtube headers. They all pass the plug in test after our tuning. For visual inspection it should have Cats on it even though alot of people get by that too.

So do I only need to get a tune if the check engine light comes on. Local shop wants 450 for dyno&tune /

Yes,thats the same we charge.

a tune is best, especially if you removed the cats. a good tune will help ensure that your car doesnt smell like fuel.

if you cant afford or arent ready for a tune yet, you really just need to ensure that you arent throwing any codes.

the average shop isnt going to crawl under your car to look for cats. in all my years, the only place that has ever given me a hard time about getting a sticker has been a dealership. the sketchier the shop looks, the less they check.

Well guys my long tubes are in with a catted texas speed pipe. No engine lights came on and the car is not running rich at all. Would you say I am good to go?
