8's at Atco !!!

It's been a long time coming, finally got the car out lastnight. First full 1/4 mile pass I ran 8.96@154.99. This is with a sub-par 1.43 60'. Pretty sure I have a coil going on the car as well.... Also the converter is wayyyy too tight for what the car is currently jetted for. We drove 2.5 hrs down to Atco and it was well worth the trip :D Thanks to Rick and my brother for helping out as well. If I met you and you we're telling me about your tall deck lsx post up.

It's a 440 LSX with TEA LSX-R heads, Performance Induction Intake, speedtech plate, and a glide. I did not launch right on spray. That along with what I think is a bad coil i'm hoping to improve my ET next time out..

Way to go Charles!! Long overdue and it's nice to see you get that "8"!! :thumb:
Rick told me the car was breaking up the whole way down the track-8.50 class here you come!! :drive:

I think the combination of leaving right on spray (no delay) and fixing the bad coil or whatever was causing it to break up, will net a nice ET. Shit I told him my car out 60's his :engarde: lol

Good job, nice to finally see that 440 running right!

SSPerformance Jul 22, 2010 09:19 PM

Thanks guys .... I have a few coils on my car in question... I've tested 2 others cars so I'm 99 percent sure I have a few weak coils

JL ws-6 Jul 23, 2010 06:05 AM

I've heard of several people with coil problems lately, these cars might finally be getting old enough for stuff like that to wear out.

Be a good time to get the new 6.2 truck ones, they're supposedly a good bit stronger.

SSPerformance Jul 23, 2010 08:51 AM

I've tested truck coils on the dyno there no diff

REDGAR Jul 23, 2010 09:15 AM

That is awesome congrats

Very well possible. I don't know if there's a point the added power from a better coil will be needed... example, if you have no problem, and put them on I can see it making no difference.

Maybe on an FI car that's blowing the spark out, it might be a different story.

Kind of like adding octane when you don't need it. You can add it, but if it's not needed you will not see a gain. Adding a stronger coil when it's not needed, might be the same way.

I haven't back to back tested it, nor have I had a problem myself. I can see where it could help... if the coil's weren't putting out enough to keep the plugs lit correctly.

Regardless.. get that issue taken care of and it should for sure pick up a bunch, simple diffuser plate too, nice. That's probably one of if not the best plate out.
