Thumbs up been busy, new trunk, hope to race this weekend

well, i cut my trunk out, welded a suport and bent up a new floor, covered it with carpet, remounted bottle, blow down, fire exting, etc etc. came out much better in person, but in total lost about 30 pounds and it looks 10 times nicer then the big hole, and still room for t-tops to be stored.

for some reason i cant get them on photobucket right now, but you can see pics on my facebook.

That metal is heavy. Now take the bumper cover off and cut the 2 holes off that are outside the frame rails, and just run a piece or round bar down to the bumper cover to hold it in place in the corners.. there goes another 25.

By the estimates I have figured stuff at... I believe there's about 350 lbs of metal I will be cutting out, and replacing with probably 50 to 70 lbs of tubing to reconstruct the car.

If you want to take the time and spend the $, you can get one of these cars to 2800 lbs, with a 220 lb driver. It's surly not cheap, but it can be done.

jl, i took the rear out long ago, i have the chute mount in there now, this winter i may cut the entire center hump out and redo it with alum and make a consol for shifter and loose the stock plastic one. i would think i could find 50 or so pounds there. gonna chop up the front suport more as well. prob another 5-10 pounds i can chop off that and still have the nose stay up in good shape
