Default So i'm into dirtbikes now lol

I just picked up a brand new 2008 CRF150R leftover, before you tell me thats a kids bike you have to realize I am 5'0 tall. Knowing that this bike wouldnt be fast enough to hang with the big boys, I decided to contact service honda, they put CRF250R motors in CRF150R frame.

So since my bike was brand new I decided to sell the motor with 0 hours and order the service honda kit

Hoping to have everything here in a month or so.

Here is the bike before the tear down, it was bought brand new on Jan 21st 2011 and never ridden due to snow.

After a few plastics removed

Gastank and subframe removed

Eventually we ended up with this

Holy ****, you're only 5' tall? LOL J/K, that's going to be a nasty little bike when it's finished. I'm assuming you got a decent deal on an 08 leftover too. Keep us posted dude.

Yeah being born with ellis van creveld syndrome will do that lol

Yes $2200 for the bike thanks to the $750 incentive and the dealer wanting to move it.

Im excited, the stock 150 motor makes 23 hp and with a big bore kit your looking at maybe 27 so I decided better money spent on a 250r motor that makes 34hp stock

Ehhh lol

I always bought KX100s because thats as tall as I could handle so this is my first 4 stroke, im glad I went this route because after I am done 125s will have a tough time keeping up.

This bike will be 40lbs lighter than a crf250r

Very nice. Honda makes a great dirtbike, I have been beating the hell out of my 2005 450R for years now without a single issue. I wish I could find a deal like that, I have been looking for a smaller bike to 'play' on without getting completely worn out. I should start looking for leftovers.

That thing is going to be sweet with a 250r motor in it.

Are you going to be doing mx, trail riding, sand pits or what ? I used to have an 05 YZ 250 and I really miss it. I need to get my friends back into riding again.

Most of my riding is trail riding with drag racing mixed in lol

I will be competing in local hare scramblers for fun

I have always wanted to try a hare scramble. I'm thinking about picking up another bike this spring now lol.

All these hobbies really hurt the wallet though.

Damn that sounds like a good plan! My plan was to find a KX85/100 and do a big bore kit for my first 2 wheeled device but I found a killer deal on a KTM 300 EXC 2 stroke. I am 6' tall and have to tiptoe on it. It's crazy fast considering I'm used to quads. I only ride sand dunes so far, it seems the safest playground as there is nothing to run into... Haha no trees!

Post pics of the progress!

My first bike was an '03 CRF150F after that I had an '04 CRF250R, both of those bikes ripped, it's will definetely be pretty awesome when you combine the two. My stock 250 would hand it to a stock CR125 all day long, make it 40lbs lighter and look out.

Those are alot of fun, I used to do that a long time ago with ATVs, did the blackwater race once, not easy, but alot of fun regardless.

Have fun with it and be safe. One of my buddy's is getting another atv, and does have me thinking about getting back into one... I do miss it. ONly problem, is if I do it, I will have to make sure it can be used to tow the car at the track, or at least a tire swap and make it viable..

I was looking at a 450R leftover, and was thinking a set of 22 in tires for woods use and drop the front sproket a tooth, then pick up a 2nd set of wheels with little 18's on them like the dirt track guys use, hoping it would have the dead stop tq to pull the car at the track without killing the clutch.... not sure if it would though... and if I buy one I will want to dual purpose it.....

The sport atvs have a tough time pulling a car, they tend to wheelie. The 4x4 is better since they are heavy

I have a 1976 suzuki DS100 if anyone is looking for a cheap starter bike hahah

it ran great a few years ago, but the carb needs to be rebuilt and the throttle cable is weird, but other than that it should run/ride fine

i would think it wouldnt have too hard of time? i see my neighbor moving a boat with his
2wd utility. i guess that would be the problem is weight it only weighs 340lbs
