reputable engine/machine shops snh/nmass

hey guys, i have an lq4 that i am going to be swapping into my truck and am looking for a shop that can go throught the short block once i finish tearing it down as well as the 243 heads i have on the way. i live in south western nh and am looking for any recommendations/experiences within a reasonable distance to me. thanks

PK machine in Fitchburg Mass and Golen Engine in NH are really the only two I've personally heard/spoken to and seen some of their work.

Slowhawk Performance has one of the best engine builders around

Slowhawk 06-18-2015 10:17 AM

We mostly deal with performance builds and our engine guy is a few states away. For a stock build there are a few local shops.

you guys are south of boston right?

One place in CT if you want to travel that I would trust doing it.

My buddy just had a 6.0 done by Precision Machine and Balancing in Hudson NH. His name is Randall he does some nice work and is good with LS engines. Has a pretty sick CTS-V. Check him out https://www.facebook.com/pages/Preci...69071293108713

sweet! i work in hudson so that is perfect, will have to swing by this week and check it out.

Randy will get you sorted out no BS and top notch. He's got plenty of experience with the LS stuff.

hokeplaya05 07-29-2015 12:31 PM

good to know! i havent had a chance to swing by the shop yet, waiting on my cam/springs right now and still need to finish tearing down the motor

I'm gonna end up taking my crank and block to Golen to have the build it up a bit, so I'll let you know how that turns out. Chad seemed very knowledgeable over the phone and their prices are pretty good for the components available.

i have dealt with chad and he is a very good guy, when i was having my motor built for my camaro he told me to stop by anytime to watch them put my motor together (i work right down the street from his shop). maybe i will get an estimate from him and Precision Machine and Balancing then decide who to go to.

His prices are pretty good, especially if I get to reuse some of my stuff. Plus having a local builder helps if there's ever an issue with the engine. PM me if you want to compare price quotes on some builds I got from him.
