Vinyl Wrap or Plasti Dip in Queens/Long Island?

Sorry if this has been done already, but everything I could find seemed outdated or way out of the area.

Short version:
Does anyone know of a reasonable price shop or individual to vinyl wrap or plasti dip my car in the Queens/ Long Island area?

Long version:
So, I've finally gotten the itch to bring my 99 TA back to presentable condition. As far as the body goes, it's NVB with some pitting on the front. A 5" chip on a headlight cover and a chunk of scrapes in 3 corners that you can't feel. Anyway, I always wanted this car in white. Besides the idea of selling my car and hoping to find an LS1 6spd TA in white, I'm convinced that I'd be happier to pay to transform this car keep it for the long run and just keep throwing money/ work at it until one of us dies.
For reference (and anyone thinking I'm better off starting fresh) My car is 6 spd. The engine and tranny feel GREAT (let's hope that wasn't a jinx).
170K+ miles.
I just changed front calipers and all rotors and pads. I'm going to have the suspension looked at very soon.
The interior needs some work. Cracked dash, huge tear in the ass of the drivers seat, headliner falling visors fallen apart, cracked door at the window...

I'm just tired of looking for a white 6 spd TA and hoping that I'd be able to sell mine and worry about new problems that I'd be unaware of. So I'm at the point of saying; fuck it! I'm just going to throw money at this car til I'm happy.

So, besides the original question, I'd be happy to get any/ all advice. Especially if it's a magical coincidence of "hey, I know a guy with a white 6 spd TA that's dying to trade with someone who has a NBM one!"

Thanks in advance all. Sorry for the rambling.

If anyone cares, I got a $3200 qoute from a place on Queens Blvd.

1RawTA 05-02-2016 06:37 PM

3200 is a lot of money... wrapping the car is better then dipping it. I hate dip to be honest.

Also if you wrap over the dents and scrapes you will see them once its wrapped. you have to fix and atlas prime them before you wrap it

bad_408_vert 05-02-2016 09:36 PM

There's a few places in deer park Long Island but I haven't personally tried any to recommend them. It wouldn't hurt to just google and call them for a quote and read their reviews.

I also agree with 1RawTA, $3200 is a lot of money for dip, considering you can buy a diy dip kit for $500. At $100per hour, no way they need 27 hours to dip a Fbody.

I'd stay away from those stereo/alarm places on queens Blvd that are past the mall anyway.

I ve looked into two places and was quoted 2500 for vinyl but I'm just going to save my pennies for a single stage paint job.

1RawTA 05-03-2016 06:03 AM

You may be able to find someone to give you a half way decent paint job for $3200.

the only problem is the jambs are a real pain in the butt. As well as inside the doors and the hatch etc. maybe for 4-5k u can get a primo job

Ls1Ryan2002 05-03-2016 10:30 AM

As the other two have stated, 3,200 is a high number for just dipping the car. I would make sure to check into a different place before tossing in 3,200.

So sorry... I didn't realize how much post came out.
The quote was for a vinyl wrap. The guy explained that he'd be removing the spoiler and bumper to get as few seems as possible and I have no doubt it'd be a quality job. I also believe him when he told me it'd take almost a day just for the front bumper with the removal and to get the vents and ports done right. But I just think I'd rather try it out on my own as I could take my time and do one panel each weekend if I have to.

bad_408_vert, $2500 is obviously a better price but I think that's still a bit past my budget.

I considered getting it painted but the commitment and cost to changing the color with paint.... I've been getting much higher quotes for that.

So curiosity got the best of me, I found a place in Whitestone called queenz dipped.
I sent them picture of my 2002 Camaro and was quoted 750 for a new material called liquid wrap. It's an alternative to plastidip, suppose to last 3-5 years and hand wash preferred.

My confidence is pretty low that it will last 3-5 years but it's a cheap enough gamble to test theory.

G'damn that's pretty good. How do you find these? I thought I was OK with my Google-fu but I guess I have a lot to learn. I'm off to call them now.

$750 for the liquid wrap sounds pretty good.

Give it a whirl even if it lasts 18 months, its not terrible

thingthatgoes 05-03-2016 07:40 PM

They're closed. I'll call and likely see them tomorrow.

I looked them up , it's by appointment only based on what I read on their website.

One learns a few things after spending 12 hours a day on computers,

That's pretty much my theory.

Bad_408_vert, thanks again for the heads up. Here's the update.

Day 1 I called, no answer, left a message.
Day 2 same thing. I emailed 6 hours later and got a fast response but asking me the color I had and wanted. Which I already said in the email that was still showing in their email back. Kind of annoying but I move on...
So they want 700 for matte white, not doing the pillars. I think that's fair.
$800 if I want pearl. I think that's fair.
My only rub is that the only reviews I can find are on their FB page, mostly from relatives and people in the business. They don't want to meet in person to see my car or show me their work and want a $400 deposit via PayPal.
Btw, they still never called back and I've yet to speak to someone.
Maybe I'm too old (fashioned) but it really bugs me to do business this way.
So, I'm probably going to procure a garage and try it myself.
And I'm STILL toying with the idea of wrapping in one panel at a time.

bad_408_vert 05-06-2016 11:14 PM

Yeah that doesn't sound too comforting.
I'd move on.
If you are on Facebook.
Look up east coast GM power generations
I'm sure they people from that group lurk on here too and know more places than I do.

Quick update.
I found a spot to use that wasn't perfect but it had a covering from an overpass and containers on 2 sides. So I bought a Wagner sprayer at home depot and did plasti dipped my car on on Sunday.
Here's the results.
