Hmmm...That going to be one of the few GM cars to pass thru the doors down there? ;) From their site, they've got some pretty strong references...mostly the Stangs. Best of luck w/your project, Don. Some serious wallet-lightening is going to be taking place to go as fast as you hope to go. Be safe and get the proper license credentials. WJ

It's actually the first F-body they are doing this extensive. They are very excited about it.We've been working on there personal GM's for awhile now :) The project will be running slow at first (low9's) then we'll keep turning it up till we reach our goal/$$ fund. The car I'm basing this off of just ran 8.8 at 130mph (132mph in the 1/8) on DR's but the blower pipes kept coming off.(easy fix). The wallet is taking a big hit so far,but I see it worth doing the cage at first so it doesn't need to be updated for awhile :)

Noyzee Oct 24, 2005 07:27 AM

what car went 8.8?
mustang?

also, how are they doing the 25.5 cage in the car? what are the points they are using?
the 25.5 cage is only good to 8.50 correct?

Joe "Preachers Sheets" DIESO Oct 24, 2005 07:30 AM

7.50 if I remember correctly.

pretty sure the rules changed. same as mine. this year my cage was good to 7.50, but the nhra rule is throwing it up to 8.50 :bang:
pretty sure the 7.50 cars need the halo now. which looks bad ass, but no fun to crawl in and out :eek2:

I think you were refering to the 25.2 cage. The 25.5 has the funny car style cage that goes around the driver.Don't worry they will change the rules again soon enough. 25.5 is good for 7.5 --for now.

BOOSTNSS Oct 24, 2005 09:58 AM

Don That will be work of art!!! cant wait to see it. and for the others a 25.5 is like a full tube chassis build inside and around the uni body.

yhea, im pretty sure thats where my cage is. 25.1c or 25.2 or somthing like that.
the 25.5 has all the bracing on the floor ect ect.

WJ SOM SS Oct 24, 2005 12:40 PM

Are both sanctioning bodies, (NHRA and IHRA) going by the same guidlines for the e.t.'s allowed using these cages, or do they both have different guidelines? What about NMCA? Their own rules for cages, or is one good for all? They are sometimes conflicting on certain rules..... WJ
