Default Did I say I wasn't going to mod my C6?

A few of you have probably heard me say "I'm not going to modify this one" or "just a few bolt-ons". Yeah.... right....

I think I probably said something about a supercharger along with new wheels, tires and brakes when I brought my yellow C6 convertible home last March. I did the wheels/tires thing last year and then just sold them when I decided that I wanted a different look. The look is going a little beyond those parts this year. There will soon be alot of Z06 parts going on the car. It will be getting the carbon fiber front fenders along with the Z06 nose and rear 1/4 panels. These are going to be needed to clear the factory Z06 18x9.5" wheels up front and 19x12" wheels in the rear. The fronts would actually fit under the C6 fenders but... I can't just replace two and the nose will look cool too. GM puts some big brakes on the top version of the Corvette. They not only improve braking but look pretty damn good behind the wheels too! I should have a set of those in a few days.

All of this will look good but my day would be ruined if I came apon a C6 Z06 and had my butt handed to me in a horsepower contest. So a polished intercooled Magnuson supercharger will sitting under an RK Sport hood and a set of SuperMaxx long tube headers will help the exhaust exit the cylinders.

The stock seats are currently Vette Essentials in MI for a set of custom covers. They will be set #1 produced for the C6. The colors will be yellow and black. These colors will flow through the rest of the interior.

Everything should be wrapped up by the time the roads are clean up here. I'll post some pictures when everything is done.

Tom

I would love to have a Z06 but the convertible is more important to me.

Sounds nice Tom. But why a Magna???? I mean they make good power and all, but the intake temps are so high. Why not a polished p1-2 Pro Charger with a FMIC ??????? They you wouldnt have to worry about any C6 Z06 giving you a problem in this area

I like the low end power that the Magnuson produces. This will make it fun to play with on the street. The car will probably only goto the track once. Enough to get a few timeslips and then have them tell me to go home until I put a cage in. No cages for this one

Sounds like my kind of car.

You going to be running the stock cam and all the entire time, or are you going to do more internal work down the road?

I'll probably keep the stock cam unless I find that I want much more than 500rwhp later.

This is going to be a project to remember. The Magnuson was delayed for awhile but that will finally be here on Wednesday. The body shop that was going to spray the car was sold and is closing the end of this month so they can't do the job. I'm working on finding another place now. This morning I found that the owner of the company that my seats went to passed away. It's a small, family run business that does excellent work. Maybe these are signs to leave it alone?

I couldnt believe Ken and the guy at MCM passed away the same week. In fact I was talking to Ken about the guy a few days before. Jeez. May not be a good time to order from VE. Saw a Victory red c6 the other day and must admit it's growing on me. Oh and mod the thing.

I've been blown away by Ken's passing all day. I talked to him about the final seat design last week. They were going to start working on them right away. He was always a pleasure to talk to. Throughly enjoyed what he did and he really knew how to take care of the people around him. I looked forward to meeting him in a few weeks. You can sometimes expect things like this to happen when a person isn't well but he was always very upbeat.

I think Kenne Bell is working on a C5 kit now. It will probably be awhile before they have something for the C6.
