Tailwind Mar 30, 2006 01:17 AM

Good job. You know how hard GM clear is, can be a pain in the ass to correct.

If you ever want a hand, get in contact with me.

Bajapat Mar 30, 2006 06:42 AM

You know i will tailwind...

Well I'm done.. and she passes the five foot rule. Now my nephew does take care of her but he doesn't have a garage.. so she sits under a car cover..

For polish is used
http://www.optimumcarcare.com/images...umcompound.jpg
http://www.optimumcarcare.com/images/optimumpolish.jpg

those are pad dependant to I used
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...k/IMG_3866.jpg
the black heavy cutting and the blue polishing
from Edge 2000
I then went and finished polished to get any maring out with
https://us.st11.yimg.com/store1.yimg..._1891_11139156
with a blue polishing foam pad,
and I got lazy and used

This works great but I still feel like I cheated
I did a wipe down with
http://www.poorboysworld.com/products/spray-gloss.jpg
which just helped gloss it up and make sure I don't miss any spots

OK here is the finish product

Good job! :usa:

The Alchemist Mar 30, 2006 10:06 AM

Very nice.

Black is a pain in the ass as I learned this year when the wife got a black Saab, but it can also be very rewarding when finished.

I did the Menzerna three step process with her car (Intense polish, final polish, FMJ) and was quite happy with the results. I used a PC do do the work since it was a new car the swirls weren't bad.

Here's a pic...

If you can't tell, it's her passenger side door and that's my car in the reflection. Pretty neat pic if I say so myself.

Tailwind Mar 31, 2006 12:30 AM

Bajapat: You use a PC on that?

I've heard the cut on the Optimum Compound isn't that much stronger than the polish, so it's best suited to orbital use, which works really well with it. That's why Optimum released the Hyper Compound, which is better suited for a rotary.

Nothing wrong with the spray wax, either. I don't use it, but if I needed to save a lot of time I'd pick some up.

Bajapat Mar 31, 2006 11:17 AM

Naw rotary.. I have a PC but I find that the rotary just works better for me..

I found the best is the polish.. neither the compound or the hyper compound works as i expected..

ace68 Mar 31, 2006 11:34 AM

Nice work, i like the 3M stuff to cut with and polis depends on the car I guess. I used the Zano it's ok i guess.
