The word's out....

....that NED is going to start enforcing the s.f.i. approved flexplate rule, the automatic transmission blow shield rule, and the s.f.i. approved harmonic balancer rule if you're running faster than 11.0 w/your LX-powered car or truck, so get ready to have what you need when you go up to run. s.f.i. approved scattershields for the stick guys, as well. WJ

so what do I need. Just the numbers of the stuff??

Don will know just what you need. CMDR had a NED tech session last wk. for '07 season tech stickers. (one tech and you're good to go for the season w/window sticker.) The LX motor guys were told (F-bods, GTO, Corvettes, Trucks, etc.) if you go faster than 11.0 (one time) without the s.f.i. equipment, you will have to leave and not be able to run at a later date until you can prove you've got it. WJ

What if you have a M6/NM12 Corvette... I don't think there is a scatter shield for a manual C5 or C6.

???

Going faster than 11.0? If the scattershields aren't available as yet, I'm sure they're on their way to becoming available soon. This is IHRA rule, and think NHRA is pretty much the same....track management has the final say.

Thanks WJ... Don has the numbers for me :) :)

Luckilly for Matts truck we has a custom SFI dampner made and we put in a SFI flexplate.

JL ws-6 Mar 29, 2007 08:15 PM

what do you need exactly to show the tech guy? I have all that stuff on my car.. do you just need the #'s off them for the tech, do they need to see it, some paperwork or something? I know the asp balancer is sfi approved, it's got the sticker on it, hughes flexplate had the sticker, the csr shield had a sticker too.... but I don't think I can see the #'s on them now.

BUt, if they are teching a car on the way in and it's on the trailer, they could look under the car and see them.... is that good enough?

NJSPDER Mar 29, 2007 11:03 PM

for the vette guys, you can prolly use one of the generic style ballistic auto trans blankets until an application specific part is available.

Specialized Mar 29, 2007 11:19 PM

Bah Humbug. I dont know if my car will go faster than 11.0 this year, but I guess Im going to need a shield/blanket eventually, no matter what.

You have to go 12's before you go 11's :judge: :gtfo: :jest: :chug:

DannoWS6 Mar 30, 2007 06:33 AM

Well that sucks...

How much are those Auto blow shields? They probably add another 30lbs huh.

WJ SOM SS Mar 30, 2007 06:34 AM

Other than the flex plate, the rest of the required safety pieces can be seen visibly by a qualified tech while vehicle is on the trailer when coming thru the inspection line, or by jacking it up if driven in. If they see the damper, blowshield, they'll ask if you've got the flexplate (autos). Believe me, you start running sub-11 sec. #'s, they pay more attention to you, regarding having the required equipment, for your safety and all the other people working around the starting line and at the track in general. If you race more than just once or twice a season, it pays to get the '07 tech sticker--everyone knows what a PITA the long lines are for the weekly tech-ins. WJ

DannoWS6 Mar 30, 2007 07:12 AM

All that shit is gonna cost like close to a grand. Paying to play sucks

WJ SOM SS Mar 30, 2007 07:42 AM

Yes, most people don't mind stepping up to go fast or look good, but hate to spend any $$ on safety-related equipment...... :( WJ

Specialized Mar 30, 2007 08:01 AM

BSM- My car is going to skip 12s :judge:
I told Jason I wanted to beat his car this year, I just need to pony up the $$ to do so. I need some AFR205s, anyone got some for sale?

Either that or break the rear.

True, Safety is important, but blows. I mean just that stinking bell housing you got must of cost $400.
