Ran the car, times inside
I spent alot of time and some money to get my car ready for the race season. The car, driven by the owner at NED did 13.4 @ 105mph, and I know for a fact it had to be at least 150 pounds lighter. This was in bone stock form, factory tires.
Since then I have added....
SLP Flow Pack
Dynatech Headers w/ catted Y pipe
Corsa Cat-back
Moser 12 bolt, all options, 3.42 gears
BMR LCA w/ relocation brackets, TQ arm and Pan Hard rod.
M/T ET Street Radials.
3" steel DS
Stock Factory Tune
First off I want to say this, anyone saying that M/T tires are not for m6 cars is full of ****, these things hook so well I had a hard time burning out. I put the clutch to the floor, rev to the moon, and try to hold it, the car pushes forward. I definitly need line lock, which will be my next mod before going to the track again.
I also ran -2 deg pinion angle and 25 psi in the tire. Next time the car is going to run with 30 and I wanna see if I can make it spin.
I got 4 runs over all, the launch rpm went from 3k, to 3.5k, to 4, and then 5. They all bogged but the 5 seemed better off of the line but didnt equate to faster et. Just changing the tire psi and the car should gain 1 to 1.5 mph easy. Add some 4.10 gears and should be deeeep 12's even with the weight of the car.

330-foot: 5.432
1/8 ET: 8.322
1/8 MPH: 85.20
1000-foot: 10.788
1/4 ET: 12.872
1/4 MPH: 107.93
The MPH in all 4 runs were in the 107's. never dropped. The other 3 runs were 13.0X, 13.1X, and 13.2X the best run came in the 2nd run. I dont know why But thats what it did. as for the mph with the more weight and 10 bolt the mph would have been 109 easy, then if the tire PSI was raised.... I am thinking 110's

Nice times for your mods. Good work.
MT doesn't recommend those tires for stick cars, as you get faster you might see why, although a few with faster cars have had success.

Tune will come with the cam swap, since I can get a good deal at eastside. I spoke with HPtuners and they seem to agree, the stock tune take you far.
as for the tires, there is a 70 chevelle wagon, 502cid with accel xfi/dfi, manual (i think a tko), pro charged, and makes globs of power. He needs to start burning out in the water and roll out to keep the burn going otherwise it wants to stall. I wll be using these tires for a long time.

How can you *know* that with increased tire pressure the mph will surely go up? When I was playing with tire psi, I never successfully make my mph change- it was always 107. I made the time go down- from 14.0 first run of the day to a 13.5 where the trans started acting up.
Anyways, you went 12.8 so thats good. Im actually kinda suprised the MPH wasnt higher.

good times and good luck with it.
I run MT's and they seem to be working fine. They must hook pretty good I busted a T56 main shaft launching on them last year. You just have to find the right tire pressure and have a good suspension and you can hook any tire.

w/just adding 4.10's that car should run high 12.6's @ high 108-low 109's and high 1.6 sixty fts. Already been there/done that. You WILL spin the M/T radials w/the 4.10's, and on a hot day w/a little less track prep, you'll find out why they aren't made for stick cars....M/T says that themselves. WJ

#1 they are not a slick, they do not need to be aired down much, too much and you loose top end MPH
#2 You want the tire psi to the point where you cant either spin or bog. f I can run the tire 5 psi harder, get the same or better launch, its not going to loose top end but rather gain it.
After seeing your track times, I don't you can even be asking that kind of questions, "how do I know??"
I've been racing alot long then you and I may not know everything but I know what makes a drag radial work.

I may be only 19, but that doesn't make me unqualified to give an educated opinion on trap speeds and tire psi (going from 25 to 30 on a tire only 26" overall diameter isnt going to change your overall size that much, the tire still can only expand a certain amount on the top end *reason for not being able to gain even 1/2 of one mph even if you did air up*).
Just because you've been "racing" longer than me, doesn't make you automatically more eduated in the field. I went 1mph slower with no headers, hardly any 4th gear, and no ls6 intake. IMHO, Im not that impressed.
I dont need a lesson on a drag radial, I know the properties. You guys are all so quick to jump down someones throat when they say they aren't impressed, only because my car which everyone and their brother called a piece of garbage. When in reality, the car went 107 traps with street tires. I think I have plenty of flag waving room here.

Man, I really don't mean any disrespect and I think it's cool your excited about your times and believe me when I say I like to see guys having fun with their rides but I'd hardly call a 1.9 60' making it work.
Not that you couldn't make it work once you put together some more power but at this point I really don't think you can say it's working all that well.
Just my opinion.
I still think the cars ET is impressive for the mods you have.

Hell yeah good time, i cant seem to find the right air combo yet im trying to get good launching on regular street tires first before i get some dr's or even slicks that way when i get a stickier tire im goin to know where that happy medium will be launching i would like to get down to a 1.9 or 1.8 with reg street tires then id be happy.

As for the gears, it was from my 383 lt1 auto car which was supposed to be juiced later, it will get some more gear.
As for the 60, I am happy its not 2.0 or more, Only had 4 launchs with the car, the street doesnt even count its a different beast and this is my 1st m6 v8 car. Riding still on a stock clutch i, dont feel like granading it this season and I want to be able to drive it.
I am sure the 60 foot will widdle down soon enough, a combo of launch technique, tire psi combo, and gearing going to do that, WHen you run a big cube motor, you get alot of advantage at the starting line.

Nice times for the first time out. My car went 12.2 full weight on a drag radial getting 1.8 60s on the stock rear with the same mods as yours (well similar exhaust, pulley, CAI, clutch). Once I got the 12 bolt I went 4.10, and with weight reduction on ETs streets and skinnies the car went 11.70. Its amazing how well these cars respond to light mods, and im sure you will see fast times!
