Soprano's---WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That final scene is all from Tony's perspective, and supposedly it showed how paranoid he was. Anyone in that diner could have shot him, possibly the guy who was at the counter and walked into the bathroom.
Who knows. Just goes to show what we think doesn't matter.
that's funny, because I just changed cable providers ( went crom comcast to dish network, saved about 50 bucks a month ) and the one thign I made dish network do was throw HBO in for free for a month so I could watch the end of the soprano's.... now that it's over I have zero use or HBO, and will cancel it when they call and ask if I want to keep it or not.
I too noticed that Tony was wearing different clothes when he was sitting. At first I thought he was dreaming too then I got confused when Carmella came in and AJ so I didnt know what to think. I still dont like the ending I watched every episode and wanted to see how David Chase envisioned ending the Saga. By showing nothing it irritated me and I guarantee you Martin Scorsese would not have ended it that way lol.
I love the Wire and enjoy Entourage too so I will be keeping my HBO for a while.
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Long live Entourage, and The Wire!!

remember the show was always about tony.... so the black screen was his perspective... he got whacked....
the guy going into the bath room was credited as Nikki leatardo (sp?)....
the black guys were workers for the NY families...
and the boy scouts were indeed the same kids from the train store...
all this symbolism leads leads the viewer to the fact tony got whacked....
also Tony's dad got whacked while at a diner with his family with Janice walking in.... sound familiar
David Chase loves the symbolism.............
and yes i did take a film lit class in school lol

The blackout/fade to black thing could definitely denote a shot to the head and the parallel between Meadow walking into the diner and Janice (I never knew about his father getting whacked in a diner while she was walking in) is awesome as well.
Interesting.
Oh well.
I hated him as far back as the movie Goodfellas when he played Billy Batts (got whacked BAD there as well LOL).
The black guys didn't even notice Tony, and there's never been any history of them in the show working for New York.
And also, you're way off on Tony's father. He wasn't whacked, he died of Emphysema.
The last episode showed how they can get you to the edge of your seat simply by panning around a camera.
I thought it was a brilliant series.. and having worked as an officer in FCI Danbury (where the "Goodfella's" did time) I can tell you the characters were realistic.
There *actually* was a hitman called "Gigi" and while I worked at Danbury, one of the inmates was New England crime boss Ray Patriacha, Jr:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raymond_Patriarca_Jr.
Most wiseguys were in the "North Unit's" which had their own washing machines and prized single cells.. along with thier own VCR and the unit often smelled of Italian food- sometimes cooked on upside-down irons.
They had thier own benches and even had a bocci ball courts.
FCI Danbury now houses only females.. last I heard.

i agree completely.
NHRATA01, its agrees with everything you said under one of the theories and was even confirmed by HBO......there were 7 theories listed total.
