Default Best shops in NJ for tunes/installs on f bodys?

i am going to need a new tune on my sts 383 stroker t/a soon and i am going to start shopping around now. i have heard great things about cartek and ttp. what do you recomend? also i might needa new tranny soon, my stock t56 is on its last leg. any recomendations on upgrades? what shop do you think is best for that insall? what should i expect to pay for an install and a first dyno tune at these shops?

Honestly visit each shop and say Hi and see whats going on.. Cartek was the place for me.. My GTO is going to be there next week to go back on the dyno... Just a little re-tune before the 2008 race season as I have added a few things.. Cant wait to see there big new shop..

i live near mt holly nj. i dont mind traveling a little to get quality work and service. i just want to get my tunes straight and have somone swap out my transmission or rebuild it for me. what do you think would be cheaper? i was looking on 6speedinc.com and they have both rebuild kits and full transmissions, but you send your old one back in.

I've gotten a lot of work done at TTP and Cartek. I strongly recommend TTP.

To put it concisely, I got engine/clutch/transmission work done at cartek and had nothing but problems(as did a few other people I know) and then had to have all the same work redone at TTP over the last 3 and a half years and am very happy with the results. I could go into more detail about my bad experiences with cartek but I don't want to hijack your thread. Matt (the owner of TTP) is also a very easy guy to deal with and really appreciates his customers. You could send a PM to TTPMatt.

We would be glad to take on the job. Unfortunately I am not equipped with the LT1Edit software to tackle the tuning part. The transmission I would have no problem rebuilding in-house, but I'm sure you want a shop that can handle everything with the car.

I would say give the guys @ Cartek a call... Otherwise I would be happy to take the task on.

Thought the '95s were the transition year, '96 started OBD2? Think the '95s still have the EPROM style PCM. I would assume he has to have some kind of tune because a stock EPROM isn't going to run a 383 stroker too well, let alone one pushing boost.

Cartek will take good care of you they're the top LSX shop in the area IMO , and their track results reflect that , consistent , strong running , record setting cars , I've been a customer since 2000 . They're in a new , bigger building , the shop is better than ever . Good luck in your choice .
