Default C5 Rear end swap - need answer ASAP

According to GM you must remove the entire TQ tube, tranny, etc fromt he car. I am just about ready to pull it but it looks to me like you can sneak the rear off the tranny without remove the entire set up.

Anyone ever done this? Looking for answer ASAP car is apart on lift.

You just take off the exhaust and the plate under the torque tube.Titl it back alot to pull the rear off the tranny. Also helps to disconnect the air box setup.

Just like Slowhawk said. There is a sticker on the torque tube that shows how low you can lower the assy. Easy job to do!

From what I've read it's doable like Don describes. Just watch the back of the intake to cowl clearance. Don't lower the rear more than you have to or else it can hit the cowl.

Here's a link with it all out but it shows the cowl clearance and might give you some good ideas:

Good luck
