FINALLY 12's!! after 2.5 years of not doing shit with my car (cuz i've been broke since i moved), I got myself a moser 12 (3.73's, true trac, 33 spline), custom 'stage 3' clutch kit from a local performance shop (essentially a textrallia knock off), 3.5" aluminum driveshaft, and a set of Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials, in stock size. after painfully going through a break-in period with the new rear and clutch, i hit the local track (Texas Motorplex, an NHRA track). previous best time was a 13.20 @ 107.87 on a 2.18 60' at good 'ole New England Dragway new best slip is as follows: 60' - 1.843 330 - 5.307 1/8 - 8.215 mph - 85.25 1000 - 10.720 1/4 - 12.832 mph - 106.96 took me a few tries to figure out how to use the line lock and how to launch... still have PLENTY of improvement on my launch technique, but my last 4 runs were all within 12.8x-12.9x, which is MUCH more consistent than before i got the mickey thompsons :D FWIW, the stats on the car is that its a bolt-ons car that put down about 360 before the rear/clutch install, and it has pretty much all the rear end chassis/suspension upgrades except springs/shocks/swaybar... and i still have to get my LCA brackets welded on, cuz i was a dumbass and didnt order them pre-welded on cuz i thought i could reuse my bolt-on brackets from my 10-bolt:bang: |
Nice runs, you coming back to NED anytime soon? Id love to see another nice hawk run! |

matt drives like my grandmother, so if i let my grandmother drive matt's car and you drive your auto almost as fast thats pretty goo:gtfo: lol i've been having clutch problems for the past year, so i've been forced to granny shift it... i've kinda *forgot* how to beat up my car properly. there is definitley time to be gained in shift speed. also, i need to figure out the launch... the first time i launced on the DR's, i scared the shit out of myself cuz i've never had the car just hook before. anything below a 5k launch makes the car just bog down. i got my best launches by reving up to 5500-6000 and letting the clutch out fast, but not quite dropping it. i also tried different burnout lenghts. all from 2nd gear. ranging from just a couple seconds, to a full smoke show. honestly... i didnt notice much of a difference. anyone else use mickey thompsons on a 6-speed car with similar power? |

It shouldn't really matter, as long as they are clean and the track is decent your car doesn't have enough power to over come them. A quick couple second burn out should be all you need. Congrats on the new best. i think when i go again this friday, i'm going to just to a quick spin to clean the tires off... they'll last longer that way :D |
woo hoo! down to a 12.66, and i gained 1+mph! was a few degrees colder out than last time, and i did shorter burnouts and just shifted harder/faster. |
