In Preparation for my First Trip to Cecil County!
Well, as some of you know I am heading to Cecil County Dragway later this evening for a GTO Showdown on Saturday for Cash Prizes and Trohpies. Friday there is a GTO/Buick Rental for 7 hours so we'll be doing some Time Trials and grudge matches to see who the "top dogs" might be fore Saturday!
So with that event here already I did some prep work:
Had D-rings welded on the trailer Sunday, spare wheel bought, tire mounted. Catless Mid pipes installed with new bung for my Wideband O2 sensor. Tow Rig has had it's wheels/tires rotated, rear end fluid checked, trans fluid checked, front end greased and lift components re-torqued. And of course why not try something a little different with a last minute "mod".
Last Minute Mod:
Old Filter on the Left 5.25" diameter by 9" long, with 3.5" outlet.
New Trial filter on the Right, same dimensions except only 5" long.
You can see the dirty area which is where most of the air is sucked into the blower, especially when I take out the headlight for racing. Almost 7" of the old filter are down where no forced air can get to it behind the bumper cover.
Check out how I positioned the new filter, to accept more forced air. Hopefully the blower will like the the new filter and position.... with the cats taken off as well, More Air In should mean More Air Out! Right??

No TH-400 in this car my friend, it'll stay with a 6 speed unless I decide later to make it a dedicated drag car.... TH-400 would go nicely in a Trans Am or Corvette for Tiffany's car though!!! The more I race and plant the bug in her ear, the more she likes the idea of racing herself and I won't put her in a shitbox so a 2000+ T/A or Corvette.... just waiting on money LoL (it'll be a while I'm sure)
Anthony is HIGHLY considering that route right now though!! He's got a T-350 in his garage/shed!!!

tru, i admire ur courage to race with a stick, i would blow *** if i had a 6 speed lol.... im predicting in 5 years u will toss a th400 in that beast and be breaking into the 9's but i admire ur desire to keep it a fun street car

Most likely if I decide to go with a dedicated drag car the GTO won't be it. I'd have to put a solid rear in it, mini tub it, toss in a TH-400 amongst other things that I won't do to this car, maybe another one if the price is right. But if I am to go that route I'll buy a 2000+ Trans Am or Corvette to make a full drag car. I miss my Trans Am so that would probably be the car for me if I get the itch... or like I said, unless a GTO was priced right that I wouldnt mind Entirely stripping to make it 3200lbs with a TH-400 and 9".
Then again that's a lot of money to start over again! This car will go Tens with a six speed!
