Default What price do you guys think is a fair cam install price?

what price for labor only would you guys consider a fair price. what price would get you in the door with a set appointment the second you have the parts and money to do so.

remember this is for labor only. and please dont say $400 or something cause your cheap. i want ligitimate answers.....

what price would you expect to see on your invoice..

I'm guessing these are shop install prices? And considering you have absolutely everything necessary beforehand (Coolant, gaskets, etc)?

I would assume it is LABOR only, not shop supplies like coolant and ****....correct? I would think that the customer would want to either source the parts before hand, or have the shop do it. None of which is included in the price of the install...

are you talking a dude in his home garage? are you talking a professional shop that is insured and has overhead who will warranty their work/mistakes?

You are asking for a quote that is very open and not detailed. And are you wanting the cam degreed, are you going to use aftermarket rocker like crane cams. They are to many unknows to properly answer that. And why would you have that work done by a shop and then not get it tuned?? Just my op.

if you have the correct equipment springs can be changed in about 30 minutes..

from what i understand this is going to be done by a shop.. and not some dude in his garage.. so yes it is very possible to do under 6 hours.

im talking about a shop, with overhead, warrenty etc, and only the cam spring install. not the tuning or anything else. no degree just a straight up install other stuff would of course raise the starting price

I don't know of any reputable shops that don't degree their cams. Degreeing a new cam is crucial...ask me how I know. Many shops take the extra precaution because they don't want to be left holding the bag if your engine decides to take a crap.

As far as your question, I'd feel comfortable between $700-$850 for a price tag. However, since the economy is in the bucket, many good shops will work with you on a price.
