Concealed Carry Anyone know of a good place around central Florida to go and take the class? I know I'm running late and even once I complete the course and send out all my paperwork I probably won't see my permit till at least next year but better late then never. |
South florida yes. Took a while for mine bro. Took it in january...got it a couple of weeks ago. It sucked to wait. |
I took the class at the Gun and Knife Show in Orlando. My buddy mailed his off like the next week and his check cleared but he has yet to see the permit. |
I know they have the classes at the gun shows and I believe there is a gun show in Tampa this weekend if I'm not mistaken, however I would like to take the course where they actually teach you more then just the basics. I've heard about a place somewhere in Polk county I believe where it's almost like a full tactical class and it doubles as a concealed carry class. Has anyone heard of this or know if it? And how much it is if it exists? |
Think there is a gun show sch in Orlando at the end of month over at the fair grounds Also Oak Ridge Gun Range on S Orange Av. in the Pinecastle area has classes, They just moved into a new range and store, nice clean place! |
Shoot Straight http://www.shootstraightonline.com/weaponpermits.htm |
I got mine from a place in Daytona called Florida Gun Exchange...mine took me around 3 months to get. Not exactly central florida but probably about the same distance as Tampa.... |
I went to the shoot straight in Casselberry... overall a pretty good class. The average wait time in FL right now is over 120 days. So the sooner you take the class and submit the better. Be sure to do the electronic fingerprints, and triple check your paperwork before sending it out because the smallest error is enough for them to deny you. Good luck and good decision! |
Any bass pro shop will do it also, most gun ranges as well. |
The hunters safety course works also and just fill out the paperwork and get finger printed. |
you can do it online as well. then just take the paperwork they give you to a gun range and they can test you... |

Shoot straight was great. Class, range, and photos in one day. I got mine in 8 business days in January 2006. My wife did the same last year and took 87 days. It has to be in 90 days per Florida law.... |

I think the electric print setup is supposed to be quicker, in theory but, when I got mine(paper, not electronic) they said the electronic had such a long waiting period, or something along the lines of that,....giving me a clear choice to use the old school non electronic. But, again, I took the course in january...just got it last month. Other frineds got theres back sooner,...for some reason or another, mine took longer by a month then any of my friends. |

http://www.suncoastgunshows.com/ go to tampa tomorrow to get it or go to the lakeland class at the end of the month. I got my carry license thru these guys. The new ones are good for 7 years instead of 5 like the type I have. |

had you ever been arrested before? Even if charges were dropped, it still shows up and causes them to put your application into a new line. If they were droped it will not matter. They are looking for any type of felonies. Misdemeanors including domestic violence, recent DUI, drug charges. Dishonerable military discharge and insanity. Those are the main ones. |
