my new SOM toy!!!
haha yall were looking to see a nice F body but nope it's an 89 Suburban with 20" lift and 44s. looking to get an LS or LQ swapped into it soon. anyone here have any parts to help the project along? i have my hands on a longblock, but i still need LS1 intake, TB, waterpump, ECU, motor mounts, tensioner, truck oil pan, etc. it's got the 6.2L diesel in it now so no rush. this motor's got another 200k left in it.

how much you want for it all? not looking for any EGR. just gonna run truck manifolds and block off the EGR on the intake. i'm just lookin to do a cam only LS (hopefully LQ though) with about 350 to 370 hp. should be enough to romp those 44s good. sick paint job though huh? i couldnt believe it when i saw it.

i love the torque and blacksmoke but it is def lacking in the power end. like 100hp and 400 lbs though it doesnt have the ***** to get a good rut. it's a 14 bolt rear and Dana 44 front. i am building a OTT Dana 60 fab front right now. i'm thinking a 6.0 will fit right in. i may just suck it up and pick up that LS2 shortblock in the classifieds.
oh and i am not paying for an LS1 intake. i cant count how many i've thrown away and i'm sur ei can find someone with one just taking up space that they will just give me.
heres an example of it's lack of *****. got it stuck at the sand hill on Old Augustine Rd.

Nice truck.
If you want to find parts for it, please start a separate thread in the classified section, otherwise the thread will get muddy on dual style responses.

I would stick with a LSX based powerplant, the 5.13s would make that truck nasty with the right motor.
Check out CK5.com, its a forum based around that bodystyle truck. It's where I've learned all my info about it.
Give me a shout if you need help, or parts. I've built two trucks like it and have a bunch of random stuff left over. lol

well aside from the LSX swap, i am looking into building a better steering for it. but i'm also considering just getting a Dana 60 to swap into it. i'm looking into how strong a 4L80E and t case will be against the TH400/NP241 it has in it right now. the forged LQ4 may get swapped into it if i get my hands on a 418 LS3. if not i'll just go with a junkyard LQ4 and strap on a Cummings Turbo and boost it.

Yes, cross-over is a must.
I still need it on my truck. It's got 8" of front lift with 37' tires and NO swaybars....my steering SUCKS everywhere. haha
I had a 400/208 in my truck previous to me swapping in the 4 speed. Worked great, I had the trans built at Kens Perf in orlando. Pretty good pricing, and the trans was BEEF. Shifted reaaaal firm.
The 4l80e is the same strength wise as the 400, only difference is that the 4l80 has overdrive. There are alot of companies now making stand-alone controllers for the trans, for pretty decent prices.
