Ordered a MWC fab'ed 9" !!!

Well, long story short, I finally blew the rear on the way to Gainesville raceway wednesday night. It's been on the brink of dying for awhile now. Decided, for some reason, that some wot powershifts on the way would be a good idea. About 2 miles from the track on the 2-3 shift it pops, clunks, and shakes the car. Limp to the track and try to leave later that night, only to have it lock up on me.

Well called MWC Thursday and ordered one up. Figure I would do it once and do it right! Options are as follows.....powdercoated black, strange iron 3rd member with posi and 4.11 gears, 31 spline axles, backbrace, and short tq arm with tunnel mount that has a built in driveshaft safety loop.

Should be in in 2-3 weeks....can't wait!!!

you're gonna love that 9". you cant break it. i have an extra 10 bolt if you need something to get you around until it comes in.

Thanks for the offer, but I got a beater car that I've been using for school and such. It actually had been 3 weeks since I drove the camaro when I took it to gville Wednesday.

Can't want to throw some m/t radials on and have some fun. I've got full exhaust and an LS6 intake in the garage that I'll throw on at the same time too!

I just got my last month; I got the exact same thing you did except for the Powder coat. For the 3rd member I got the Strange N Case, Mark Williams Yoke, Richmond DD 4.11 gears, Strange Pro spool and 35 spline Strange axles.

The sad part is I never got my Center, FedEx lost it. :(

I wish I had known someone was looking for one because I was thinking about selling mine since I just blew my LS1 :(

what's it like driving around with a spool. i'm thinking about setting up a drag center so i dont have to drive around with 4.30s all the time. one center will have 3.55s with an Eaton True Trac and the other will have 4.30s with a steel spool.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did it set you back? I might be thinking about one early next year.

I've been wondering the same thing

Finally! Now we'll see what the silver car shall do....

Driving with a spool isn't a big deal as long as you know it's there. Exmaples, front end "push", going around corners, etc. is a little different than with a locker or posi-type. But burnouts and launching make it all worthwhile!

I have a MWC rearend. No complaints here except for annoying whine at 50-60mph.

I broke it in exactly how Eric told me to and it still makes noise.

I am eventually gonna have to take it apart and see whats going on.

How do you feel about the torque arm? Any clearance issues between the torque arm/tunnel? Easy adjustments?

Torque arm fits great. I have the tranny crossmember mounted torque arm.

Torque arm to tunnel clearance is great. The only thing that it comes close to is my true dual exhaust, but thats because it was built for a stock torque arm.

Adjustments are very easy, just take out the bolt and slide the arm up or down then put the bolt back in. And on the rear end side its just like a tie rod end with jam nuts.
