Pull your dip stick, see if the fluid seams runny unlike desiel oil, if it smells like fuel chance are you have the leaking injector bull **** that has plauged the duramax. Or track the fuel pressure.

done the sniff test,seems OK
will not start without help via starting aids(wd40,fluid,gas vapor etc)
it will run for a while then die.
New fuel filter. Ive hooked my snapon scanner up and watched it go all over the place with fuel pressures.
I guess I need a tech2 to really see whats up.What I really need is a local expert....

I know we're not in Orlando-we have the GM Tech II and the tools to diagnose the problem. Just throwing it out there just in case.

why not take it to a gm dealer? unless your out of warranty but it was my understanding that the duramax's have a 100k warranty or so? idk..

injectors have a 200K 8 yr warranty(if they feel like honoring)
this is out of warranty.
As for taking to dealer it would have to be towed to stealership(big bucks) and they quoted $4400 to do an injector job.Sorry but thats a little steep.
I ll do the work myself if someone will diagnose and point me in right direction.
Plan B is that I have a low miles 05 duramax motor and will swap if I can figure out how to reprogram the 01 ECM to 05 specs.
