Im in Spring Hill bro, there is a car show every Thursday at the Hardees which is ok. My buddies and I are usually always hitting up bradenton or going to auto crossing events. I think we are going to be heading to Bradenton Feb 9TH if you are interested to do some drag racing and we usually find some shows to go to on the weekends.

I just moved away from that area.
Shop wise in the immediate area is good, two solid exhaust shops, D&D and Rod's Muffler Shop. Machine shop wise there is Scotty's Racing Technology. John's Rod Shoppe does meticulous work at very reasonable rates. AE Performance is in Hudson and they deal with parts, very competitive pricing on parts and usually has the parts there in 1-2 days, sometimes the same day if ordered early enough.

Sponsor wise on here you are loaded up in the Tampa Bay area, including several top notch tuners. The area itself isn't too bad and there are weekly car shows. Supposedly the flea market in Sumter County sometimes has a lot of car parts. I never made it to it, but the Turkey Rod Run is only a few hours away from there.

Track wise you are dead center to Gainesville, Orlando, and Bradenton for 1/4 mile action, for 1/8th mile you have Lakeland and maybe Sunshine (not sure on this one, I think it changed names and may or may not be open, I hear Lakeland is a lot better anyway).

Well hope this helps!

Yep, traded 9-10 months of stupid hot misery, for only 3-4 months of jacket weather.
Although the Silverado I bought as a beater is only 2wd and thus manages to get stuck in 1/4" of snow and any sort of mud (I'm working on this, got a posi installed in it now at least, picked up a pair of wheels the other day, and hopefully have some snow/mud tires by end of next week).

I'm originally from PA, I just really miss the environment.

Suburbia just isn't my thing... Neither is sweating to death in December.

Sorry for the thread jack OP, it isn't a bad area at all where you are moving, but different strokes for different folks I believe is how that saying went....

I might be wrong, but aren't you originally from somewhere up north Ken?

chevnut, you have any shots of your cars? Sounds like a dream collection, a ls swapped 1st gen and a 55? Cobra replica is probably cool too, but the 55 really has my interest.

Thanks for the info guys, this has been my goal for 20 years.
the wife and I just got back from house hunting from hernando to punta gurda .
we want to stay on the water but want to use all our toys too, the further south we looked the more fast paced it was.
the only thing I did not like is there are no back roads or curves to take the cars and bikes out for a relaxing or joy ride, it seems there you get in the car floor it from light to light on a straight road that looks like a highway compared to here in ma. so I do not know if I would enjoy the bikes at all and the 55 would probley only be used at the track where here in ma.
I drive them all alot in the summer (all 4 months of it).
But thats the problem we both hate living here in ma. its -10 today!!! it sucks a few weeks ago we were on a beach and at a car show in fl.
to top it off my back is messed up from surgerys so the cold limits me and Im in pain all winter.
heres my toys I have not driven since october! and probley cant until april.
you guys are lucky down there to have a life all year.
Also there are so many tracks and events in fl. here in ma. there is nothing..no tracks there is 1 in nh but its too busy since its used by 5 states and canaida and its 3 hours away through boston .
we hope to be there by fall so we will not have to deal with another winter again.
I am doing the LS swap in the 69 now and adding air just so I can use it there and I am trying to sell the cobra to buy a c6 grand sport vette so I have a more useful car...now I am stuck with a 99 z71 4x4 because of the snow.
I just hope there are local car related stuff to use my toys so i can enjoy them for a change.

very nice toys bro! yea the weather is nice here and always too hot, can't have a car here without air i do miss the snow but I don't miss driving in it and when I was still in NY my car spent most of the time in the garage. There are always shows to go to here and when there isnt we hit the track or do some auto crossing.
