can one of you auto guys clue me in on the difference in stall from 2500 thru 4000, what reasons would you use different levels of stall and why

um what point the converter will flash to on a launch or stomping it 4000 will slip up to 4000rpm its kinda like slipping the clutch up to it get you in motion a lot quicker than leaving around 1700 or so what the stock converter is

need for diffrent stalls are depending on what cam you use if you have a cam thats powerband is from 3500-7000 you would want a stall that is atleast 3500 stall it helps you leave in the powerband

so when i said if i had an A4 i would put 3:73's and a 2800 stall in it, would that be a good setup, say runnin' LS6 heads and cam ('02)

yeah i would say that maybe a ls6 heads and the bigger 99-00 cam and a 3000 stall would be a little better but that matter of opinion

a4 is all ive ever raced or built you do pay good attetion a 3000 will not flash to 3000 unless you stomp it it has decient street driveablity

exactly. you will hardly notice a difference with a 28-3000 stall. Put at least a 3500 in. It will drive fine.

there are alot of factors that go into picking a stall....everything from DD, to taking it to the track...

Yah, I daily drive my MS3 cam'd car with a 4000 stall that flashes to 5100rpms & I also have 3.73's. It can be done.

its am auto it cant be too bad just converters slip so hes not always at high rpm
