Cop's cracking down on street racing!?!?!?!?!

Well tonight we were all hangin out on OBT watching all the ricers be stupid as usual when this BIG turbo 89 RX7 pulled up and asked us if we wanted to race.Well me my father and this kid in a pullied 03 cobra (which was a beautiful car by the way) wanted to know what he ran so we asked and he said "its slow i run 12's" well im deep into the 12's on motor so i said i'd run him from a dig only and well he agreed. So he went across the street to the hess to get some gas along with the cobra and me and my father followed. When we get there he changes his story and asked if any of us run 10's well i figured i'd run him any ways since it was 4 fun and he was on BALD nitto's.To make a long story short there was a whole parking lot full of cars who followed to watch. On the way we pass some cops who had pulled over a couple of cars.Well when they got done with the cars they had pulled over they followed our group.Eventually we called the races off since it was to risky and wasnt worth all the bullshit to go thru if we did get caught.Just wondering if this had ever happened to any 1 else and also if they noticed cops cracking down more on street racing.Sorry it's so long of a story but i thought i would share any wayz thanx for reading.......:chug:

careful there are a few UC out and about...... hint hint.... i would put the street racing on hold for a good long time, and maybe run at the track? thats just my $.02

ALLMOTOR346CI Feb 2, 2008 02:43 AM

Yea i hear ya there but for the last month its been raining on every saturday night which happens to be the night of our street races but i barely race out there as it is.....

Eurospec2 Feb 2, 2008 05:08 AM

No cops at the track :chug:

I like the traction of a prepped track & having the EMT's onsite just in case.....and I don't want to loose my car for street racing.

camar0corey Feb 2, 2008 09:11 AM

I won't argue about the track, it is fun and safe, but in no way is it the same feeling as the street.
Well I'm sure I didn't just have to state that, I'm sure 95% of the people on here know what I'm talking about. Its quiet street racing wise here it seems, so when I get a little street action I'm stoked for about half a hour afterwards.

If you gonna do it on the street, you gotta get way outa town, and have to watch out for the UC and the snitches!

speed_demon24 Feb 2, 2008 11:32 AM

You passed some cops when you were traveling in a group of fast/loud cars and you are supprised they followed you?

I know it's a lot of fun on the street. I'll play around a little myself sometimes, but keep it to a minimum. It's a lot more fun at OSW than it will be without your car.

I think you guys need to stop going out to these street races because sooner or later you will get caught. I am telling you this as a friend I don't want to see you guys get into any trouble so keep it to the track like everyone else mentioned.

If you want you to race a Cobra mine is pullied and went 12.1@115.72 1.88 60' first time I took it to the track last week so it should be a drivers race. With some practice it should hit a 11.90 then it will be time to step up to the Whipple if I want to go any faster.

ALLMOTOR346CI Feb 2, 2008 01:45 PM

Yea Lou this guy david had a cobra with similar mods as you it put down 470rwhp.They sure are nice looking cars.Plus it was friday so the cops were out like crazy usualy on sat. nights there not out as bad....

Wsteun Feb 2, 2008 02:23 PM

They've been a little more serious since that Neon crashed into that kid on his bike and kill him a month back. The only way to honestly get a run in is to leave totally unnoticed with 2-3 cars or else you get a caravan of people trying to watch a race they can't see in the first place.

If you go to the ricer meets, you will be busted 100% fact. I would advise you to not attend the "La Fiebre" meet regardless if you are there to laugh or not.

He is wise. It was fun years ago, but times have changed.

I havent heard of anyone being cited for street racing in duval either, just crap like exhibition of speed, reckless driving, and careless driving. I cant even find any races anymore, the cops have gotten so thick on saturday nights, I just stay home usually. I wish Gainsville was closer...

momacoz Feb 3, 2008 12:31 AM

We went over to sonic tonight on bch. blvd.
between there and the duval county line, they were really bad.

Not true, they changed some laws around, but the penalty's for getting caught street racing are actually stiffer now then they used to be.
