Default LS1 Forced Induction Hall of Fame

I think the it's time we recognize the force induction specialist of the LSx family group and create a "Hall of Fame". This could be a place where we recognize the individual, their car, and accomplishments.

Speak up guys!! Who would you vote for?

A lot of great names here. Currently in the top five are:

1. Matt Harlen(y2khawk) with 24 votes

A little info about Matt pulled from his web site-
I'm an Electrical Engineer by education. Put in my time, 6 years to be exact, at Cornell University in lovely Ithaca, NY. Great in the summers, not so great in the winters, and basically in the middle of nowhere. What better place to spend the early half of your twenties?

While there, i managed to finish my Bachelors of Science and Masters of Engineering, both in EE. Concentrated in control systems for the MEng.

It was during the last few years there that my appetite for cars and speed really developed. I basically got recruited by some friends to join Cornell's Formula SAE team. My mission, if i chose to except it, was to design, build, program, and calibrate an ECU to run the racecar's powerplant. So, i had about 9 months to make this "thing" to run a 600cc, turbocharged, fuel injected ( methanol BTW ), Yamaha FZR600. 9 months later we had a 1st place finishing car, and i was hooked. FAST, FAST, FAST!!

I stuck around for another year, and devoted myself to the FSAE team once again. It was my graduate work year, and I needed a graduate design project. So, my goal for the year was to design, build, program, etc, etc, a traction control system for the racecar. So i did. Boy was that more than i expected. Between that and welding most of the car's space frame that year, i didn't sleep much. LOL!

With graduation rapidly approaching, the beginning of '99 started the interview process. I talked to quite a few different companies trying to figure out what i wanted to do. I'm still not sure if i'm doing what i want to do, but i'm employed now. I took a job in powertrain for one of the big 3 and moved to Michigan in July '99. And that's were i am now. The land of fast cars! :-)

2. Kevin Pulchan (KP) tied with David Childress (MIGHTYMOUSE) with 15 votes

Info on Kevin's car when he put it up for sale on Tech-
After racing this car for four years its time to move on, I was going to sell it complete but last time I had it out the car got up pretty high on a wheelstand abd cracked the oil pan, I put a new pan on it and drove it around yesterday and it was leaking oil. Unfortunately the block cracked also so I'm going to part the engine out, keep the blower/trans and sell the roller.

Its a 1998 Trans Am, I am the second owner of the body, friend of mine bought it new and it was nearly stock and had 34K on the odometer. Paint is in great shape for a 10 year old black car, hood is a suncoast WS6 style and the rear hatch has been changed to regular formula wing.

Lot of stuff on this car so I'll just start listing things..

Custom lightweight double adjustable LCAs with QA1 rod ends, UMI CM panhard bar and LCA relocation brackets, CE three way adjustable drag shocks, Spohn Drag rear sway bar, Random Tech torque arm, BMR TH400/torque arm relocation mount. Moser 9” housing narrowed 3.25 a side, Moser HD aluminum center section, spool, 3.70 gear, billet yoke, 35 spline gun drilled axles with the lightening hole flanges and moroso 5/8 wheel studs.

Nasty aluminum fuel tank, Magnafuel 100 micron pre-filter, Magnafuel 4303 fuel pump, -8 braided to 10 micron Aeromotive filter to Speed Inc fuel rails to an Aeromotive regulator back to the tank.

BigStuff 3 with internal data logger and 3 BAR MAP, latest firmware. Autometer 2 5/16 Phantom boost, fuel level and electronic fuel pressure gauge, Stewart Warner ‘4shift’ tach/shiftlight. Taylor battery box, Optima red top battery, flaming river ‘big switch’ cutoff and lever.

Aerospace front drag brakes (new pads 3/07), Strange drag rear brakes, new pads 12/07, SJM line lock, Wilwood adjustable proportioning valve. PA racing K-member, prothane engine mounts, UMI chrome moly lower A arms, Strange single adjustable front shocks, QA1 generation F 300 lb/in springs.

Mickey Thompson 15x3.5 billet front wheels, 2 month old M/T ET front tires. Mickey Thompson 15x10 4.5 backspace double beadlocked wheels (OMF), M/T 10.5x28S ET drags with 6 passes on them

Very very nice W2W built 25.5 cage, NHRA and IHRA cert for 7.50 until 4/2011. I'm 6'3" and 225 and fit in it, smaller may need to get the seat remounted. RJS window net, Kirkey ‘economy’ drag race seats, G-Force 5pt camlock harness (just replaced, good to 8/2009), Grant GT steering wheel with Grant quick release. Wolfe parachute mount (easily removable) with Stroud comp eliminator chute. Safecraft 5lb halon onboard fire system.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some things... Car 60 foots with the best of them (1.23-1.25 is pretty common on a decent track). I have the original bumper support/license plate cover/fog lamps, also have all the wiper parts plus the original fans if you want to go nitrous or N/A. Car is set up for a TH400 and will come with TH400 driveshaft, B&M prostick with ACD air shifter, trans cooler, TH400 crossmember, radiator, and some other misc parts. I also have some Kooks 1 7/8 headers (little banged up but cant beat them for free) and a y-pipe/flowmaster merge, 4" magnaflow mufller that will go with the car if you want them.

Harlen would have to be number one, he is the one that put a twin turbo LS on the map.

As much as some dont like Ronnie Duke he had one of the nicest looking and best running procharged LS cars to date. Only one in the 7s to date I believe..

Do these guys get a special trophy or something they can hang on their wall for their accomplishment?

Is this like the Emmy's for LS1tech? Will speeches be given?

I vote Matt Harlan & Parish. Anyone who pioneers anything deserves the recognition in my book, I'm sure there are plenty more people too.
